Indiana obviously needs stricter gun laws.
For my experience in it, I was away at class.
When I got back to the dorm, all the students had been evacuated (they didn't know that the guy had killed himself yet - he was locked in his room), and they wouldn't let my wing return to their rooms for 24 hours.
This was in the middle of midterm exams, and I couldn't get access to my study materials. Didn't matter to the profs, they tested us anyway.
My mother was losing her mind from 2 hours away. I was a "Floor Senator" for my floor. There were 16 of us in all of that dorm. Having never been to college before, she didn't quite understand the difference between an RA (or Floor Counselor) and a "Floor Senator" (someone who takes part in governing of the residence hall).
Since the incident happened at about noon, and I didn't return to my hall to find out about it until about 5ish, and because I couldn't get access to my dorm to use a phone, and because it took me about a half hour to walk to the nearest male dormitory and use one of their phones, I wasn't able to call and let her know that I wasn't dead until about 6 hours or so after the local media broke the news.
