PSA: Dropping off kids at school

My daughter rides the bus, but on rare circumstances where I end up dropping her off, I wait until I SEE her go into the school. It may take a few extra seconds, but at least I know she made it inside the building safely. :yay:

Just out of curiosity, on normal days when your daughter rides the bus, how do you make it through the day not knowing if she made it into the building safely if you aren't watching her walk from the bus into the building?

Either you are a liar or your car is so full of crap that you probably shouldn't have a child in it anyway. Your average backpack holds maybe 1.5 cubic feet (+/-).

She has a two-seater sports car with no rumble seat.

You can apologize now.

I think my son would be emarassed if hubby or I had to get out of the car to help him get his stuff together at the drop off point. He is 12 and gets himself ready with his things every morning. I remind him to get his book bag and stuff ready the night before, that is a big help in the mornings.

The child has no lap?

There is no room on the floor in front of or behind her feet?

Thank you for allowing me to apologize, but I'll save it.

All I was saying is that if you can't fit a bookbag in your car then you should really invest in a new one.

I must confess here. I am a bit of a road rager. I hate slow, inattentive, brake pushing every few seconds, bad drivers. I can't stand it when someone won't get out of my way. Yes, I realize this is my problem. I still hate them.

:howdy:We get to the drop off point, he is sitting on the right hand side of the car, gets out on the right hand when we stop. We say "love ya, have a good day" and he is out in a matter of seconds. And he is off with the herd!

Apparently you don't have children, or you'd know how huge those bookbags are. I drive a Rav4 and my kids' bookbags had to go in the back because it wouldn't fit on the floor in front of them or in their lap.

Boy's bookbag sits in the middle (in a small car) between 2 carseats. Or it can fit on the floor in front of his feet. But then again, he's only in preschool...so the bookbag itself is not all that huge. But it's still big for a preschooler.

And who wants to ride with a backpack full of books on her lap anyway? F that.

I have both child and book bag =)

I also drive a small saturn (smaller then my mothers Rav4) My child has no problems with his book bag in either position.

I don't wait for the first car to be done with dropping off the kids. I could be the third or fourth car behind and let the kids out. Once the kids are out of the car inside the school I drive pass the cars still waiting and leave the school property. easy peasy.

I only have one child to drop off, he sits in the back seat with his Trumbone and book bag every other day he has both. We drive a Jeep Liberty. It does not seem to be a problem if we do not pile the back seat up with unessery things.
