So very sorry.... It is never easy but it is our responsibility to our animals that love us with everything they have- even when we are unlovable. Hugs to you and your fam.

The vet office was wonderful. Only living here a few days we had not established with a vet yet. A neighbor told us about the vet she used so we went with that. It was a smaller office and run well. Not all corprate and they were so nice. Even gave me a paw print from Sadie made in clay.

Solomons Vet did that too when we put our Dalmatian to sleep years ago. I ended up giving it to my SIL because the dog was hers in the beginning but due to circumstances, we ended up with him. She always considered it still her dog and I knew she'd appreciate having that as a reminder of him.

Sorry for your loss.

They did that for my old girl when I had to have her put to sleep. They also did one in ink and sent me a sympathy card with her paw print on it. I still have it sitting on my dresser. It really touched me. Sorry for your loss and I know it doesnt seem like it now, but it will get easier. I cried for two weeks afterwards. I just keep telling myself that she had a wonderful 18 years with us and we with her. Hugs to you and your family.:poorbaby:

oh no.... :huggy:

Im so sorry

Thanks, he was a good dog.

Had a great 12 years, but it was his time I guess. Apparently none of the stiches or anything held internally, and they think his organs were somehow compromised.

The worse part is seeing my other dog looking for him. They were best friends (atleast Xena thought so) She is young, and he was old, but she'd always run up and kiss the hell out of him.

OMG Chris, I am sorry to hear that. What happened?

He had a blockage, so they opened him up, cleared it, but the next day they had to do it again because the Dr. didn't like what he saw.

None of the stitches held due to his organs being compromised by something. Cancer, infection, who knows.

On one hand, it's definately painful for us right now. But, on the other hand, if they ahd sent him home with us, he would have died from internal leaking of fluids. It would have been very painful for him.

You did the right thing, and he is comfortable now. I hope the other Pup does OK with his passing. My two Bostons are 2 years apart, and I dread the day that one of them passes. They really do love each other. Take care.

Sorry, Chris. Like I told guy, I know the pain y'all are going through. Lost both mine this year. Hang in there and think of the good memories; that can be comforting. Only time will heal y'all's pain. This is one of the times that I wish there was a fast forward button for life, but then again, the grief is part of the healing process. :huggy:

I was thinking about my dogs today, more than usual because of this thread. We had them cremated and brought home in beautiful wooden boxes that are under our bed where they used to sleep every night. Some might think that morbid, but I love that they are with us. I was wondering how you, chris and guy, are doing today. I have been thinking about y'all. :huggy:
