Did That Twice, First Time We Went To Vet My Other Two Dogs Looked For Him, Did Not Eat For Days The Next Time We Had The Vet Come To The House We Let The Other Three Dogs Smell Him And See Him. They Did Real Good They New He Was Gone And At The Rainbow
Bridge. They Ate Ok, And Did Not Seem To Look For Him.

this hits close to home right now... as I may be close to having make the same choice... it sucks.

I deal with this everyweekend.. but when it comes to your dog.. it hurts like heck!

But being a good pet owner is knowing when to let them go, Its the best gift you can give your pet that has been loyal and faithful to you their whole life.

I too will be in this situation soon. My Chocolate Lab has cancer, started in her foot and has spread to 3 of her feet now. It's agressive and they could not operate since it was between the 2 middle toes (the balance toes) and she had already had an ACL repair on the back leg. Vet said it would be more detremental to amputate the front leg. We live day to day with her loving her up as much as possible. My other dog depends so much on her as he is a very timid and dependant dog. Guess we will see :(

Had to put down two together - mother and daughter. Mother had cancer, daughter had renal failure. Vet came out to the house, had them out on the porch on their blankies. Very peaceful...
On the vet's advice, we let the third dog come out after it was over and she just sniffed them and ran off. I am guessing she knew they were gone as she didn't go looking for them. She has a new friend now!

We had a wonderful dog named Penny put to sleep here at home and, in a way, I'm kind of sorry that I did. My daughter is a vet tech and was in with the doc and the door wasn't closed all the way and I could see in. Penny fought the drug they give to put the animals to sleep and she just wouldn't go to sleep. That was very hard to watch. She finally gave in - but it was heartbreaking. She was my dog and I loved her very much. I still to this day cry when I think about her. She is buried in our backyard along with 3 of other dogs.

Well looks like it's time this week. The beagle with Lymphoma is going downhill. Although the vet said it was not a painful type of cancer, the swelling of the lymph nodes must be painful to some extent.

He's scheduled for Thursday to be put down, but it may be sooner depending on how he is doing.

He's such a happy boy all the time, even NOW - that's what makes it so hard. That tail just keeps wagging .... this is going to be a really hard week for us all. :bawl:

Not sure how the other dog is going to respond. She's always had the beagle as her buddy. She kisses him all the time.

So Sorry Ark......your little man looks so cute. I know how hard it is, I had my girl put down last week, after 18 years together. Still crying, but I know she's better off. Prayers to you and your little guy.:huggy:

:huggy: Sorry you have to go through this. It's never easy losing a beloved pet. No matter how many times we go through this, it never gets easier.

:huggy: for you too. I had a wonderful cat growing up for 18 years and the house was so empty without her when we had to put her down. Now we have a dog and a cat and I can't imagine how bad it'll be when their time comes.

Its amazing how empty the house is without her. My daughter moved back in with us a few months ago, she has a black cockerspaniel, (my granddog) who is so sweet, but, it doesnt fill the void my Nikki Girl left. She told me I need to get another dog, but I just cant think about bringing another dog in the house right now........maybe later.....but now. :huggy: back to you.
