I would assume its a private company but its also a huge corporation
You work for them and assume it is a private company?

If this was a case of affirmative action (the advancement of a not as qualified employee) you might still have a case. 2% of the 91,000 pending employment discrimination cases at the EEOC are for reverse-discrimination.

Go to http://www.workplacefairness.org and look for workplace discrimination. Some useful information can be found there.

:lmao: this particularly company is staffed with 90% black.

To quote good old dad... If you don't like your job - leave. If you see no chance of climbing the ladder or getting any where within the company why stay? Forget a lawsuit. Get a better job.

I thought so. Trust me, McDonalds will suck you dry and spit you out without a thank you. Forget your worries about racism. Just get out while you can. If you are working there while you go to school, keep your head down and just collect the small pay check. When you get your degree, run and never look back. :huggy:

Discrimination builds character. Yes, it's true. If you learn to face adversity as a young person, you won't be so flabbergasted by it as an adult.

Anyway, I think most McDonalds are franchises and, therefore, privately owned. They can hire and fire whoever they want and the only thing you can do about it is decide whether to suck it up or move on.

Having to fill in for an absent parent, builds character.

Living out on your own at a young age, builds character.

Working your way thru college, builds character.

Being harassed in any way shape or form, especially in the workplace, builds anger, resentment, depression, loss of self worth and your own self-respect.

One can complain, but in the long run, you might as well look for another job. You’ll end up staying where you were not wanted in the first place, and you could even be resented for the action you have chosen to take.

:yeahthat: Since Maryland is "employment at will", they can fire you whenever they want to with no reason. The only way you could have recourse is if they fire you with a reason that isn't legal.

In other words, "Jane, you are fired" would be legal, and you would have no recourse.

"Jane, you ignorant sl*t, you are fired" would be something that could be contested in court.

I'd say document every damn thing you can i.e. a journal, have witnesses, quit, call the ACLU and carry on.:huggy:

It's not like you can't do better..sometimes it's better to endure for a bit, keep your kewl, and just get out of a bad situation. Live and Learn.

Only if the first time a boss ever treated you crappy was when you were an adult.

Young people, especially these days, are such babies about everything. They expect their boss, the person whose money they take, will kiss their ass 24/7. That's not the way it is in the real world and the sooner they realize it, the better off they'll be.

I hate to be cynical about it, but Larry tells the story about how he was a teenage busboy and his boss yelled at him. Larry was so upset by this that he quit his job and stomped out on the spot.

Wuss.

If the boss is groping you or physically abusing you, that's one thing. If they're just talking snotty to you or making you clean the toilets, suck it up, lightweight. It's the fricken McDonalds - what did you expect?

Actually, I should say a big THANK YOU to Binky, Terry, Ron, Carole and the host of other jerk bosses I've had over the years. If it weren't for them, I might not have been so motivated to start my own thing.

I have been the subject of malicious statements, including those racially-oriented. That is the last thing I want to worry about when I go to work. I go to work to work and receive a paycheck, not be harrassed or insulted. Just yesterday an executive trainee made a personal slight against me and I called her on it, although I didn't file a complaint.

I don't necessarily want to side with the "wusses"... but the workplace should not include this behavior.

What if the job is not McDonald's but, for example, Lockheed Martin? Does that change the perspective? If the job is great but the boss is pathetic, do you still quit or deal with it - either way letting them prevail?
