:yeahthat: Since Maryland is "employment at will", they can fire you whenever they want to with no reason. The only way you could have recourse is if they fire you with a reason that isn't legal.

In other words, "Jane, you are fired" would be legal, and you would have no recourse.

"Jane, you ignorant sl*t, you are fired" would be something that could be contested in court.

Thank goodness for AFSCME :notworthy

In My Opinion
"Jane, you ignorant sl*t, you are fired" would be something that could be contested in court.

Please refer Jane the ignorant sl*t to me. I think that I would enjoy her in my employ.

What if the job is not McDonald's but, for example, Lockheed Martin? Does that change the perspective?
Of course. I hope that one would expect more professionalism from Lockheed bosses than they would some shift manager at the burger joint.

I'm still curious what Equality means by "discrimination".

When you work for the government or places like Lockheed, I would imagine that things are like discrimination are still there, but really under the surface and rare to occur.

As for Equality's meaning of discrimination, he/she mentioned promotion. Sounds like Equality didn't get a spot as a shift supervisor, transfer to a better shift, or a move into a grill position that he/she thinks they deserve.

My advice is the same. It's McDonalds. Live. Learn. Move on before it kills you.

What rights do white people have when it comes to racism in the workplace?

The only thing fast about fast food places is the amount of employee's they go through.....

Stop wasting your time making sandwiches and get a better job.

I confess, I don't really work for McDonalds. I've been emailing lawyers all day and doing online research. I have a good feeling about this.

Keep us informed as to how it goes. I've never been a victim of reversed discrimination but it burns me up when I read about it happening to other people. I hate affirmative action or whatever you want to call it. Best man/woman for the job, regardless of color, sex, etc. We have a lot of black and females who have been promoted at the place I work and they all earned it. They are great leaders and great people but I know not every place works like this.

Oh, and I kinda had a feeling you didn't really work at McDonalds. I think I saw you behind the counter at KFC.

I bet they tell all the white people that. Why is it ok for black people to cry racism every chance they get? When we encounter it everyone wants us to roll over and take it. It needs to end, somewhere down the line. If people keep rolling over, it never will

I agree with you 100%. I have no problem with black people until they start pulling out the race card. It does get old and and really isn't fair. Our liberal courts and media have helped this along. It is time to stand up for what it right. I wish you luck! Give 'em he**

It's not, and we make merciless fun of the ones that do. If you want us to make merciless fun of you, go forward with a bogus "discrimination" lawsuit.

Not all black people are race baiters. Just like not all white people go legal because they spill coffee on themselves. Frivolous lawsuits are frivolous lawsuits, regardless of what color the plaintiff is.
