Massachusetts Dems react after DeSantis transports migrants into ritzy Martha's Vineyard: 'Evil and inhumane'

One local representative called the action 'evil and inhumane' but said the migrants were taken care of

They were taken care of. Given jobs for gardening & housekeeping. The homeowners there know all about slavery.

When I saw the title of this thread I assumed DeSantis sents two private planes to the Queens funeral.

Says the cheerleaders of late term abortions

Like the Fairfax county thrice deported sexual predator?
Abortion always strikes me as an issue that CAN be reasonably compromised on a level where people from all over the issue CAN find agreement.

BUT - it is always crushed because of the extremes on each end - one end wants it eliminated, gone, illegal from the moment of conception, the other wants it legal even to the barbaric point of birth to EVEN A SHORT TIME **AFTER** birth.

Once again - as much as the left wants us to be more like Europe - European nations have LONG AGO settled a reasonable compromise on the issue, but that their restrictions would be anathema to the left, here. The entire Supreme Court striking down Roe v. Wade was predicated by the whole Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health, where the law was to ban abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy. This is fairly close to where it is all over Europe - which is much more accomodating than most of the REST of the world.

And this would be - on request. As in, no actual REASON. Exceptions for: life of the mother, rape and incest are all over the place, but I always think that banning abortion on request after 15-18 weeks is perfectly acceptable, since by that time, most abortions fall well before that time. Exceptions for life of the mother should always be acceptable, even to die-hard right to lifers.

Me? I don't think they should happen at all. The decision on whether or not to have a baby ought to come well before the baby is conceived. We have far too many because people will NOT use precautions. But it's going to happen, and people WILL abort them, no matter how sacred a right to lifer declares, and how well intentioned the proposals to adopt are - they WILL HAPPEN. I do feel it's tragic that so many are ended, when so very many couples long for a child and can't have one. But people will terminate pregnancies, so - establish laws that are fair and make sense.

(Exodus 23:9) When a stranger resides with you in your land, you shall not wrong him. The stranger who resides with you shall be to you as one of your citizens; you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.

Hypocrites.

Let's spend $12 million flying these people to a small island where everything is expensive and they have no contacts or resources.

$12 million could house and feed all these people for a year but Republicans are cruel and don't care who they hurt as long as someone hurts more than them.

"Our island jumped into action putting together 50 beds, giving everyone a good meal, providing a play area for the children, making sure people have the healthcare and support they need. We are a community that comes together to support immigrants," he wrote on Twitter.

Many of the people crossing the border were taken in by other countries, i.e., Europe, and they find all sorts of ID coming across the border being ditched. These people are country shopping, and we cannot have that. The border is open, which this administration has denied, and the pain should be spread. It shouldn't always be in the backs of Florida, Texas and Arizona.

It would have cost Florida money to house, feed and provide health care to these immigrates - let them go to Martha's Vineyard. Time for them to also be hospitable.

Although I agree that sending someone to Martha's Vineyard which is filled with a-hole s is inhumane is it any more inhumane than allowing them to come over the border in droves.?

I like DeSantis sending them by airplane, that will stop them from getting off in some rural area when the bus stops for fuel.

These people have the right to seek asylum at whatever country they want. They have to cross the border to do that.

What pain? He wasted $12 million sending them to Martha's Vineyard. Half that would have housed and fed them for a year. This is a political stunt and shows how uncaring Republicans are about anyone but themselves.

I see where Florida put aside $12 million to relocate the illegal immigrants, but I don't see where he blew the whole wad on 2 planes. I think he is being fiscally responsible. Making a budget and all.

They probably have some old DC 3's laying around Miami they could fly them up on, on the cheap.

Taryn Fenske, DeSantis' communications director, has confirmed that Florida legislator approved the use of $12 million to "transport illegal immigrants to sanctuary destinations," in line with federal law, as reported by the Associated Press.
The information provided by Fenske is confirmed by the Freedom First budget for Fiscal Year 2022-2023 approved by DeSantis on June 2, a $109.9 billion state budget bill that included a program to transport immigrants out of the state.
Abbott, who is estimated to have sent more than 9,800 migrants to other cities, including Washington, D.C., New York and Chicago since April, has spent more than $12 million in transportations cost until now, as a Freedom of Information Act request sent by CNN has revealed.

How much are tax payers paying, per year, for illegal immigrants? And you are worried about what $12M could do? So Biden is cruel for letting these people into a country where they have no contacts and yada yada?

I have HAD IT with the bull$hit over this entire situation.

Am I missing where it says they spent the entire $12M on these 2 planes?

I guess in your way of thinking you have the right to seek asylum in Iran. Go ahead and cross their border and see where they take you in a bus. I am sure enough of us on here will pitch in for a plane ticket to any of Irans neighboring countries.
