Pete has to wake his baby up and send him to school each and every morning. It's truly scary. Empowering your children is a good thing! Go Pete! :huggy:

Some of the bravest people I have ever met were kids. Don't underestimate them.

That may be true, but I want my 7 y/o to stay just that. Not a shell shocked 13 y/o to soon.

That's the problem, 'if executed'. How many kids are thinking about executing something like that? Right now the students don't have a plan, so to you they're automatically telepathic so as to make a strategic plan of attack in a mere inkling of a moment. I just don't find that plausible.

If there were a plan set in place, the students would have a better shot but as of now there is no plan in place.
 How many times has "training" and "drills" been mentioned? Of course they are not going to mind meld and all rush the guy from a telekinetic "Go" command.

Let me go through this with you Einstein. :duh:

Intruder runs in, teacher yells "Intruder!" the maylay begins en masse, intruder freaks at the staplers, books, book bags, trashcans, pointers, pencils, pencil boxes and glue sticks flying through the air and onrushing kids screaming at the top of their lungs and retreats because he was expecting sheep and was unprepared.

Want to hear a true story? I know of a local teacher that crapped her pants at school, rinsed out her drawers and hung them on a doorknob out side of her classroom. When they were not dry by lunch she put them in the microwave in the teachers' lounge then burned her hand when she took them out. Then she got worker's comp. :ohwell: I do not want to give her a gun.
 EXACTLY!

And what do you think Montgomery County Soccer-Mumsy will say when Junior brings home a note that says the school is going to train him to take on a gunman?

She'll be drying her panties in the microwave that's what.

With so many people thinking that more gun laws are the answer, Boy is going to be rushing that freak on his own because you, Pete, will be the only parent that actually teaches your kid to defend himself.

...and how many times have I agreed with as much? Countless. I think most agree with this, one should fight back for his or her life.

It is the 'now' that I am debating. All your utopian biology book throwing is meaningless unless something is actually done. So what will we do if nothing is implemented, which could very well be the case?

Will you tell Boy to lead the charge in not knowing how all the other children will react? Things seem so basic and easy-peasy when one has the time to analyze and figure them out, like now. When thrown in a situation like this, how will we react?

:lmao:

Vrai, you are so succinct.

Jesus F. Christ, to quote a friend tonight... do people NOT realize that if we make stricter gun laws...ONLY criminals will have guns? I mean, it's not that hard. Come on people! Think!

WHEN did something being "against the law" stop a criminal, EVER? :jameo:

Well I enrolled Boy in TKD for the express reason to take some measure to ensure he will not be a hapless whimpering victim in any confrontation. For good measure I am taking it with him. IF he is ever confronted with a situation that requires action he will have 3 years worth of preparation. I also hope that I have given him a sound enough example of what a "man" does that he will not hesitate or sit back and wait to be "rescued" which basically means being tagged and zipped up in a coroners bag. We are both 5 belts away from blackbelt and when he is motivated he is formidable at 9 years old and 105 pounds. Can he outright defeat an adult? Probably not but I would bet you $5 he could incapacitate you tomorrow if you were not expecting it.

As far as the other kids, like I said once again drill drill drill. You drill until it becomes relfex, instinctive. If 5 out of 10 go you have a much better chance than if you do nothing.

If only all kids had the benefit of such sessions this just might work. Hopefully the day will come where we can all have comfort in knowing how to defend ourselves properly. Either crime rates would surely drop or criminals would seek out the latest double drop-kick move.

One thing is absolutely certain; You cannot defend yourself huddled under a desk in a puddle of your own urine.

One of my classmates in high school carried a little .25 automatic and got his azz teased about it being a "ladies gun". My friend wore a Colt Python with a 2 3/4" barrel from 10th grade on. Those who couldn't get their hands on a gun had good fighting knives. The poor kids had K-Mart-bought machetes. Welcome to Detroit.

I'm not trying to say nuthin' about nuthin'... But it is a wonder that with all those weapons in the school, everyone had the common sense to keep fights to fists. (Only one time did I ever see a guy go for his knife... The crowd made him drop it and he got beaten to a pulp.)

So, in my high school, if anyone came in with a gun, he would have been surrounded by the Varsity SWAT team.
