...well, I'm no artery expert and yeah, if it was me, the 12 gauge would not only not be in my underroo's, it would certainly be pointed in the general direction of the noise.

As far as this being something other than an armed intruder, it's not hard to keep pretty much any story for a few days. I mean, the cops have no reason to run to the papers and say "She's telling a funny story."

Hell, do we even now if there is a police report to substantiate this other intrusion?

Yeah, the cops could be waiting for her story to fall apart or something. I haven't heard anything released officially, just a ton of rumors. That really is how the police should be playing it. Don't release guesses, release facts when they are known and only if it doesn't hurt the investigation.

Ok...

(Supposed) Secret Service guy was on the radio this morning, stating that the type of wound was consistent with someoen who accidently shoots themselves removing the firearm from their pants.

He speculated that Taylor heard someone/something, went down to investigate and ended up shooting himself. SUPPOSEDLY paramedics arrived 9 minutes after the 9/11 call, and the police didnt show up until 35 minutes after the paramedics. His speculation was that the paramedics responded first because it was a accidental self inflicted wound.

...this could cause mass hysteria around DC.

And they'll just reply that obviously more strict gun laws are needed because the assailant had a gun, whether it was some intruder or Taylor himself (which I doubt).
