Wake up....This is not a joke or a situation to make stupid comments about. Did anybody stop to think that Deputy Porter had to chase this man at high speeds. Tazer him first to stop the dude from harming himself, the other citizen or Deputy Porter. I would have shot him first. He did his job only to have this dude try to kill an innocent citizen and Deputy Porter or who else was in his way of travel. Put yourself in Deputy Porter's postion how would you react. Look at the effects this will have on this officer, his loved one's and his private life. Thank god we have an officer like this in St. Mary's County. Walking Tall. :buttkick:
Wasn't a high speed chase.

More information:

A motorcyclist cut himself with a knife and threatened a St. Mary’s sheriff’s deputy and off-duty wildlife officer with the weapon during a traffic stop Saturday night near Leonardtown, authorities report, before the deputy shot the motorcyclist.

Stephen Todd Coryell, 39, of Leonardtown remained in critical condition Monday at the Washington Hospital Center, a coworker said, to await further surgery on a bullet wound to his abdomen. Police said Coryell is expected to recover from his injuries.

Where did you see that? The one article I read said low speed chase, the other said short pusuit.

Maybe the speed limit was 5mph were they clocked him. If he was doing 45 during the chase it could be considered a low speed chace.

Speed limit on Medleys Neck is 40 mph, normal speeds are around 60 mph for quite a few locals. The area just past Breton Beach is a pretty good straight away for about a mile or two, not unusual to see a bike doing 65-70.

Actually, the speed limit is 45. Yes, people speed terribly on the road and believe me, it's just not locals. They also pass on double yellow lines and often go over the yellow lines on curves. I'm a bit surprised there aren't more accidents on the road.
