Shooting of Gay Student Sparks Outcry

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if the McInerney kid was having conflicting thoughts with regard to his own sexual orientation which is why the little gay boy freaked him out to the point of putting a bullet in his head.

Psychology 101. :yay:

EXACTLY my thought when I heard the story.

As far as the other comments, I don't see how anyone could justify the killing of another human being because they are different.

IMNo and Kris both blamed other factors for the killing, such as lack of education almost as an excuse to why this happened. You would think a basic understanding of tolerance would be taught at home, first, by parents, but that isn't why this happened. There was something seriously wrong upstairs in the shooter's mind. Education isn't going to save future kids from crazy people, only stable families and strong upbringing will.

I hope I didn't leave you more confused as I am just beyond tired. Uggg

Fighting like a girl
Oh Kris stop. Social order is important, or we devolve into chaos. It's unnatural to have gender identity issues, and completely natural to be threatened by that which is unnatural. Take a quick peek at the animal kingdom for innate behavior regarding those who are outside the norm.

I didn't realize a man in a dress is enough to collapse society. I guess we all need to start blaming Martin Lawrence for those "Big Mommas House" movies which put this country in the current state it's in.

If a girl showed up at school in a flannel shirt and work pants few would look twice. This is exactly the same situation, someone not following their gender role.

The kid didn't deserve to die, obviously, but someone should have clued him in that transgenderhood would probably get him some unwanted attention.
You sound like a communist in this post.

Being gay, or acting in a transgenderal way, doesn't by any means excuse a murder. I guess this is where I'm socially liberal to some, but someone being and/or acting gay does not bother me nor should it segregated in such hideous ways. Diversity is a good thing, without it life would be boring.

Actually, that's not true. Girls are worse than boys when it comes to appearance.

The fact is that any time you are outside the norm, you will get attention. I'm not saying it's right, merely that it is. Then to taunt people who are already hostile just adds fuel to the fire. Nobody is saying that this kid deserved to die or had it coming or anything like that (at least I'm not). But a little common sense on his part and on the part of the adults supervising him could have prevented this from happening.

The killer in this isn't all that interesting - just another psychopath thug with freaks for parents. He'd have ended up shooting someone else if the King kid hadn't crossed his radar.

I know few things about this whole situation.

I know that it makes me sick to my stomach.

I know that if I'm out and about and hear someone gay bashing I get up in their face and put a stop to it right away because I don't tolerate that crap. Love it or hate it, that's your business... but we've all got to co-exist so deal with it and look the other direction if it bothers you so much... god knows the military does and if you think that that homosexuality doesn't go on in the military then you're really turning a blind eye.

I also know that my son is going to grow up understanding that people are different and the differences are to be embraced, not persecuted.

Well I suppose if I'm out with my gay friends I can let them continuously be gay bashed... especially if there's drinking involved and it can escalate in to violence...

Have you ever had your roommate collapse on you at 3 am because his boyfriend had just gotten the crap beat out of him in the middle of the street simply because he was gay? Seriously... that much blood is enough to wake someone up right away... not to mention having to be emotional support for your best friend while taking care of his boyfriend because he's just not capable of it at the time...

Homosexuality is my hot button soap box issue... it's probably the one area I fly off the handle way too easily.

How did the person who beat him know he was gay?
I think it may have been something about they were holding hands as they were leaving a known gay bar in St. Paul.

Or maybe it was because they were dressed sharply. :sarcasm:
