The one that stops here I think the cheapest ice cream is $1.50, and they go up to $4.. And here they'll have adults chasing it around on foot trying to catch the drivers attention! Every time he stops there's at LEAST 10 - 15 adults looking to buy, and he probably stops every 5 minutes or so.

Can you say generally where "here" is?

It's easy. If someone is threatening you, you have the right to protect yourself. If someone is stealing your rims, you have the right to call the cops, and to tell the person to stop. If the person threatens you at that time, you can cap him.

The story here is: person stealing rims, owner shoots thief. Not justified.

You're trying to read justification to shoot into a story where it isn't there. If the story was: person stealing rims, owner tells him to stop, thief pulls gun/knife/bat, owner shoots thief; THEN the shooting would be justified.

Obviously there could be a lot more to the story than what was printed, but rather than working with all of the "what ifs" why don't we stick to what is actually known?

Sorry, but without an imminent, real, direct threat to a person, there is no justification to shoot.

What is actually know is a creature was stealing another's property..

I'll bet that he won't be stealing anything from anyone ever again..

Kudos to the property owner who stood his ground to the filth that plagues our society.. Wish there were more like him!!

Go check the judiciary website. This man was just recently arrested on a probation violation and released on his own personal recognizance (meaning – on the good faith that he would be a good boy and return to court for his hearing).

If you don't like it, move to Virginia where you can legally arm yourself to defend against the animals.

Yeah, and their community won't moan and groan if they have to shoot an animal to protect themselves.

This story is tragic - no question. However, I'm just curious - why would anyone be "testing new equipment" on an ice cream truck no less at 11:27 pm? And then three women? Now, I'm a woman - so don't fry me - but I certainly wouldn't put myself in that position given the crime statistics in Waldorf these days...

Not trying to be the devil's advocate, but what if they had just replaced a headlight? a tail-light? wind shield wipers? brakes?

No where does it state they were playing 'ice cream' music or testing a new 'horn'....

Headlight/Taillight? Okay, for obvious reasons but still could test before 11:27 pm.

Windshield wipers/brakes? You need daylight in order to change them.

I still think it is suspicious. Even if you wanted to test something to prepare for the next day run, you don't have to do it at 11:27 pm. I don't know of anyone who is interested in buying ice cream, if that's what they were selling, at 9:00 am. They would have at least 5-6 hours (if they get up early) to "test" whatever equipment they just purchased.

Sorry - it just sounds suspicious to me. I hope I'm proved wrong.

The facts will surface as this story unfolds, however, depends on what news account you read... WBAL has this to say:

"A 13-year-old girl was shot and killed by a would-be robber in Charles County as she rode in her family's new ice cream truck.

Briona Jasmine Porter was riding with her mother and a family friend as they took the truck on a trial run late Friday. Her mother, who was behind the wheel, had been planning to start a new business selling ice cream."

http://video.nbc4.com/player/?id=125164 NBC says they were test driving it after repairs.....

Pandora, would be nice if you could leave a web address for this information as Charles County is strewn all over the web. In other words, it's hard to find what you're looking for.

Thanks!

Mine was souped up. It was back in the eighties when imports became the thing to fix up. Mine had a Z motor in it, recaro seats, mag wheels and a wicked paint job. They fix up nice. They are ugly stock but when you hook them up they are pretty cool. Kinda like those SCION box cars.

I heard that too. I heard he was close to that area. They ought to run anyone that assisted him during those days completely out of the area. He could not have been hiding without anyone having knowledge. Makes you sick to think he was anywhere around Waldorf.

He was hiding out in the Aquasco, and Dogpatch (Malcolm) area, police had gotten a tip he was in that area, they staked out the area and saw him enter a pickup as a passenger, they then followed the truck to Waldorf and made the traffic stop on Leonardtown Rd.

If you go to a BayNet site turn your volume up.. I noticed the other day when i followed a link that they have something running in the background there. About every ten seconds you'll hear what sounds like a mouse click as something loads in the background.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not comfortable having something I'm not aware of running in the background on a website.
