And people have a right to demonstrate that they prefer a smoke free state. Personally I don't care but how can you claim to have rights too yet prefer that people don't go to their state legislature to support what they feel is right? You have a right to kill yourself smoking(though I acknowledge your desire to quit) and people have a right to breath fresh air.

This is a very old debate on here. You should read some of the old treads.

Then we need to start concentrating on the big pollutants, like cars and factories.

I agree totally but we still can't ask for people not to do what they have been given right to. You can smoke and they can anti-smoke. Of course that doesn't stop me from wishing some protesters should be mowed down with a tractor because they demonstrate for the stupid. :lmao:

Where the hell can you smoke indoors in public? They wanna take away the back room at IHOP?

Who wants to go? :tap: I plan to quit smoking but I don't think they should be able to do this. We have rights too.

You have the right to smoke outside doorways forcing everyone that passes by to breathe your smoke too. You have the right flick your butts out your car window making it land on my car scorching the paint or starting a fire in dried grass and contributing to the roadside litter. You have the right give yourself heart disease or lung cancer racking up exorbitant insurance claims either to your insurance company or medicare (costing the rest of us higher rates or tax dollars). You have all these rights. :lalala:

If I had to make a guess, I would say they don't want you smoking in your own house.

Excuse me, dear, but I PAY for my health insurance so I think I have a right to use it. Ever wonder why the Lefties don't insist that those who *don't* pay for their health care (read: the ones who REALLY cost the rest of us money) be forced to adopt a healthier lifestyle, put down the Doritos and smokes, jog every day and eat more fiber?

I thought they did that with the remodel.

I think what they're lobbying for is no smoking bars, too. It won't be long before there is no such thing as "going out" Friday or Saturday night. Ya' can't drink and drive, so you stay home to drink. Ya' can't smoke anywhere, so you entertain at home...and we've reached a point where we really don't need to go out to the movies anymore. Home entertainment is the wave of the future.

I don't smoke in my house as it is. It smells up the house. I choose to smoke outside.

If their concern is breathing clean air why don't they go after these people who burn leaves year round? I've had to close my windows on many nice days because my neighborhood was filled with smoke from burning leaves....

Years ago in the early 90's I read an article in a British paper that hospitals were going to refuse patients with illnesses related to smoking that wouldn't give up the habit. We should do that here!!!!

:yeahthat: While we're at it, we should refuse treatment to all of those who are sick or injured due to stupidity.

Hey! No paddles for you. We told you not to eat that twinkie!

The problem is that the anti-smoking Nazis can make a case that EVERY ailment is caused by smoking. A 400 lb woman dies of heart disease; never smoked a day in her life; but since she was exposed to second-hand smoke at some point, VIOLA! Smoking-related disease.

Why do you think the big bugaboo is second-hand smoke? It's because they were finding that non-smokers die of the same stuff smokers do. How to explain it and still keep your agenda intact? Second-hand smoke.

I dont care if they protest but the problem is, THEY always protest while we sit by and let the government make decisions for us. I can see not smoking in stores and restaurants even though I dont like it, but when you can't smoke in a bar, thats just retarded. People go to bars to drown their livers in alcohol then biatch about the smoke
