It startled me because we never get calls that early unless someone has been hurt or died. I was never notified that they started doing that, when exactally did they start that, this morning was the first time its ever happened. What ever happened to getting up and checking the news? :smack: No, lets call everyone at 5:00 in the friggin morning and give them a good scare to get the day started! :smack:

You have no idea how often the schools get slammed with "The schools don't communicate with parents!!" So here is SMCPS trying to communicate, and again they are getting slammed. I think it is an excellent way to communicate, and I appreciated the call. Some middle school kids catch the bus before 6:30am, so they have to get the message out early.

My daughter gets on the bus at 6am so 5:30 was perfect timing:yay:

I agree, I'm just saying it would have been nice to know that they MAY be calling, and it wouldn't have scared me!!!

Get an answering machine.
You sound like a guy I work with. If he found a $20 bill on the sidewalk, he'd bytch because he'd rather have two $10 bills.

What exactally is your problem?
I feel that your reaction to the phone call was "super mega dramatic" When my phone rang this morning I said "Ok which one of the neighborhood idiots is calling to see if school was cancelled."

I find it interesting that your first thought was death. Maybe your unhappy or sumpin.

Don't think I'd like to go thru life expecting the worst possible outcome all the time.

Of course that's what I do if I need to go to the MVA

Get over it!! I have get three calls everytime one for each kid. Did you not receive the call on Monday when they let out early or Tuesday when schools were closed? Or is it just because they called you so early?

how long have your kid/kids been in school? At LEAST for a few months right? And you're saying this is the first time you've received this sort of call?? Didn't you get a call the other day saying they were letting out early?

I can relate to iceeyes in a way. We got a call at 3:00am this morning letting us know that my F-in-law passed away. Had we not received that call, death surely would've been our first thought when the school called at 5:40am. I still think it's a good idea, I just wish we had received some notice. Maybe a press release to somd.com would've helped.
