I can relate to iceeyes in a way. We got a call at 3:00am this morning letting us know that my F-in-law passed away. Had we not received that call, death surely would've been our first thought when the school called at 5:40am. I still think it's a good idea, I just wish we had received some notice. Maybe a press release to somd.com would've helped.

Sorry about your loss. :huggy:

I can't believe that you guys are this big a group of azzholes, I guess I should be more like the wine-o and roll back over and go to sleep!

Are you a doctor?
She's good at identifying azzholes.. so I'm guessing if she is she's a proctologist!!

Hey, the fact that it is winter, and news channels have been indicating the chance of bad weather is the first CLUE that schools would have been cancelled today. Also add in the factor that schools were already closed on Tuesday for inclement weather sorta sets the precedence for schools being cancelled again for bad weather.

Now, if you had received a call from the school at 5:30 in the middle of April, I'd say that you have a right to be irritated by the phonecall. But to be irritated to receive a call informing you of a closed school

 I agree with her. Heck, I could hear the sleet falling down outside at 4:30 am, so knew the chance of schools being cancelled was pretty high.

Now, if you had received a call from the school at 5:30 in the middle of April, I'd say that you have a right to be irritated by the phonecall. But to be irritated to receive a call informing you of a closed school DURING EXPECTED BAD WEATHER is just silly.

Thats what I've been trying to tell you....I NEVER recieved a call before, I didn't even know that they offered the service, Had I have known, I would have been expecting it and when the phone rang I could have told myself....its probably the school.

Get over it!! I have get three calls everytime one for each kid. Did you not receive the call on Monday when they let out early or Tuesday when schools were closed? Or is it just because they called you so early?

An X wanting in or a current wanting out.
It's just like Christmas morning every time the phone rings. :yay:

You sure have some HIGH expectations for each time the phone rings in your house, huh? :sarcasm:

Yes I do, I'm a "glass half full" kind of guy.
I think that's a hell of a lot better than "Who Died". I refuse to live a fear based life. If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up to much room.

Its not living in fear, It's just that no-one calls me unless something bad has happened. I'm not a big talk on the phone person, and that early, it just caught me off guard....I think its a great idea, I just wish I knew about it FIRST

That sounds like a fear based attitude to me.

I think your glass is half empty, dirty and somebody spit in it.

Only 5:30 AM? They called us at 4:30 AM!! I thought someone had died! Most of my family lives out of state and the only reason the phone rings at that hour is for emergencies!! The bad thing is once I am awake I am awake for the rest of the day.

I hate the auto message system. They call for all sorts of stupid reasons....

Don't forget to buy your yearbook, school ring, attend a PTSA meeting, etc.

The other day I got 2 messages that the school was closing early.
