So sick of pan handlers

After reading the article in the County Times last week, it got me to thinking - St. Mary's City has signs on the shoulder of the road stating "No Standing". Is this legal? I know panhandling is a 1st amendment protected activity, but if the state can erect "no standing" signs on the shoulder of a public highway, and enforce them, then why can't they erect the same signs in the median and enforce it? Something tells me, with the right attorney, one could have the signs in St. Mary's City removed. What's the harm in standing on the shoulder of the road and watch the sunset over the river if there is no harm standing in the middle of the road begging for money?
1st amendment protected activity my ass.

Is pan handling illegal in any way? Yesterday I had someone approach me inside of a store, never had that before.

I am so damned sick of getting calls for donations, people coming to my door wanting donations, telemarketers, being asked at the cash register if I would like to donate to whatever, and the run of the mill junkie wanting to "borrow" some money.
I know a friend that talks to them in a different language, When the person doesn't understand, he walks away.

It seems to me from my limited experience here in Southern Maryland that this area is full of Christians judging from the churches on every corner... yet I'm always seeing how horrible the "welfare" losers who don't want to work leach off of society or they all "suck off the system" because they don't want to work and blah and blah and blah... don't you think Jesus would throw a dollar or two at these obviously poor panhandlers? Maybe they ARE hungry! And maybe they will continue to make poor decisions about drugs/alcohol... or maybe the vast majority of the homeless have psychological issues the render them all but helpless in our society. We don't know what their background stories are. Maybe if you knew you would have more compassion in your heart. Is that dollar really going to kill you leaving your pocket when you just spent five on a cup of coffee at Starbucks? Like I said in another post, I haven't been around here in a long time, but I guess I got curious... but I see that the same ole stuff is going on here... lots of drama. lots of judgment. Where is the compassion and love in this community?
I'm sure they report whatever they make on their taxes.

Beggar: Any spare change?
Me: Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra?
Beggar: Where?
Me: Shaka, when the walls fell!!
Beggar: Who?
Me: Temba. His arms wide.
Beggar: Bye
So you said you were allies, that you should fight, and then you forgive him?
