I bet there weren't as many help wanted signs out when this book was written. Pretty sure the "poor" back then weren't "poor" because of drugs either.

I didn't see any caveats in the bible.

But if you want to make excuses for why you don't help people in need feel free

These panhandlers aren't homeless, and they aren't poor. It's a lucrative money-making scheme. It's not illegal to ask for money regardless of how much you have, and if you're stupid enough to just hand it over, well.... there ya go.

It was hot yesterday, so the panhandler was sitting down at the intersection. A lady 3 cars behind me gets out to walk up to him to give him money. And while she's walking towards him, the light changes. An entire line of traffic had to wait and missed the light because of her.

A person is starving on the corner and your concern is having to wait an extra 30 seconds at a stop light?

You are disgusting and exactly whats wrong with this country.

Probably call yourself a good christian too. How do you know that persons story?

I'd much rather befriend the lady or the homeless person over a monster like you

I pay taxes to help people in need. I donate to the food pantry to help people in need. I've donated to a few charities to help people in need. I refuse to hand money out to people who have the time to panhandle for 6-8 hours a day, but not the time to get a job working the same hours. He who lives in glass house shouldn't throw stones.

I bet people were happy with her. This guy is there for the morning traffic then goes back down the road, seen him at the other end of GMR then he comes back in the evening for traffic.

I have yet to see a person that even remotely looks like they are starving at those intersections. Your faux emotion in this post to make it appear you actually care is hilarious. Just how much money have you given to these starving charity cases standing at the intersection? How much have you given to any charity? See the thing is people with common sense know these are nothing more than hustlers trying to get “theirs”. If it wasn’t a hustle we would be seeing Susan Sarandon or some other worthless Hollywood celebrity asking for just one dollar a day to feed these poor starving people for a month. You would get to adopt your very own American panhandler and receive a package with a picture and phone number so you can text them on their iPhone 14 to ease your feelings that you money is going to good causes such as crack cocaine or purchasing a new set of rims for their new Escalade. With enough money we could get them into a new Escalade that’s an EV and fight the worlds “climate emergency” or what ever term they are using today. So here’s to you. Hand all of them every last red cent in your wallet every time you see them at a corner and the next Escalade you see with 28” wheels with spinners you can feel good and tell yourself you helped that under privileged starving person buy those.

Huh, before you assume all of the panhandlers are starving you might want to park nearby and follow them to their cars when they leave.

Several of those that work the Rt4/235 area have some very nice cars.
