Wow.

Why would ANYONE make the effort to smash a wrought iron gate that was -- - OPEN?

Sorry - they were trespassing. If they made even the vaguest threat to kill a homeowner or his dog, they utterly deserve buckshot up their ass.
Since when is anyone PROTECTED by law to do this sort of thing - trespass on private property and threaten people - when is this supposed to be protected BY LAW? Seriously. When do you bust in to someone's property and expect the cops whom you despise - protect you?

You think the police are going to charge anyone of that gaggle? The gaggle that was being led by a state representative and whose behavior is being condoned by the circuit attorney? Besides the fact that it is being "investigated".

The 911 call was prior to the circuit attorneys letter and politicians get arrested at protests all the time.

It was an unlocked gate as the community isn’t really private. The roads and sidewalks are publicly maintained and therefore there is a right of way.
So I can go into Botox Pelosi's gated community and disrupt her pathetic life?

Random FACTS
The two homeowners were clearly uncomfortable with their weapons, one friendly host suggested that they should get training.

The biggest irony is WHY the crowd broke through the fence into the gated community. It was in fact to protest at the Mayor's home - not clear where she lives. But not because she doesn't support their cause. In fact she supports the defund the police movement.
What they are upset with her for is "doxing" residents who support that position. The mayor reported the names and addresses of those that testified for defunding the police. Something that would be reasonable if you want to demonstrate the people are from the community.
But the protesters didn't like that, DOXING is only a tactic they use to intimidate their opponents.

Last but not least, some media outlets derided the house as the couple's "McMansion". Ah, no, it is a historic freaking mansion that they have invested much effort into restoring.

Oh, and they did not point the weapons at anyone and can be heard to tell the protesters to "move along".
On their property, legally armed, not a threat to anyone, except those that might want to do harm.

Well, Leftists hate it when their victims defend themselves.

Leftists don;t like their own tactics used against them.
They are allowed to "express themselves" in anyway they see fit, but if someone puts a boot in their ass they cry.

I don't get their philosophy at all. We're supposed to not have guns and leave the guns in the hands of the police to handle matters.
Except - no damned police.
What are people supposed to use to protect themselves, harsh language?

No, they want to disarm the police and make them "comfort providers"
