Student Tasered at Kerry speech

I feel the same way that I did when it was Bush getting the business. If this was a private speaking engagement, the guy was being disruptive and should have been shut down.

How disruptive was this guy being? Honestly. (Like I said, I haven't seen any video beyond his tackling and tazing.) It's not like he made a run toward Kerry, did he? I was under the impression that this guy was obnoxious, overran his allotted time, and didn't want to give up the podium until he exhausted his questions.

I'd like a real objective answer, not a "he's a douchebag liberal, so he deserves whatever he gets" answer.

Tasering him was a bit much, but this guy has no right to start going off and spoil it for everyone else. They went there to hear Kerry speak, not this nimrod.

Tasering him was completely out of line and needlessly abusive. The guy was prone on the floor. Perhaps he was resisting, I dunno, but I believe that a taser - much like any other weapon - should be used only when someone is posing a credible threat.

A loudmouth twerp facedown on the ground with a knee in his back poses no threat. Even if he's squirming and squealing like a greased piglet.

Someone gave the order - cops wouldn't just act arbitrarily in a situation like that. Plus, I didn't notice John Kerry coming in the defend the guy. OR answer his questions, I might add.

And the guy obviously got zapped, judging by the audio. You hear him going, "Stop! Don't taser me!" then a loud scream by the guy, and the crowd starts going wild.

Actually, Kerry did answer the question. It was in the article. And from what I read which wasn’t shown, the guy had been monopolizing the microphone and wouldn’t sit down so someone else could take a turn. He just got belligerent.

No. The guy wasn't being violent or hostile - he just kept haranguing Kerry and wouldn't go away when they told him time's up. The cops could have easily removed him without zapping him. They completely overreacted.

It wasn't his difference of opinion that caused the problem. It was his actions. He didn't have the common sense to act civilized. All his jumping around and shouting caused the police to take action. If the kid would have settled down and acted in a normal manner he wouldn't have gotten put down on the floor, etc.
