Right or wrong, I think they made a mistake using a taser just because it was available. The question is, could this guy have been subdued using just physical force? Three or four officers were all over him, one was a humongous dude. They resorted to the easy way out. Send them back to the academy for "Take Down 101" or sentence then to 100 hours viewing Cops or something simliar.

Really??? Since your such and expert on subduing a subject, why dont you tell us what should have been done.

The Kid wouldnt put his hands behind his back, forcefully tried to get away from the cops and resisted arrest. He got off lucky.

5 years ago, he would have gotten the club to the back of the head a few times. Tazing is still proven to injure far less than a night stick.....

He went in there with the deliberate purpose of making a scene, and causing a media-worthy incident. He got what he wanted, and probably considers taser-burns a small price to pay.

Exactly. I'm thinking he purposely caused the scene to get media attention.

Cops would be stupid to risk physical injury when they have a perfectly good taser at their disposal.

If you had to subdue some guy who was flailing about, which would you do: try to muscle him or give him a quick zap?

It'd be interesting to know more about what exactly happened. Did he intend to get tazed the whole time? Did the cops pull the taser, then he started begging them not to use it? Or did he start saying "don't tase me bro" and that gave the cops the idea to tase him?

There was an interview last night from some '60's protester saying that today's kids are too lazy to even protest right. They all just sat there as this was going on instead of doing anything to help the guy. Now that all danger has passed, they pick up signs and walk around to protest. Why does anyone take their protests seriously?

I am on the fence. I think he should have been tazed for being a retard but that is not grounds to be tazed unfortunately. 4 cops on him and they had to taze him? It is amazing how cooperative someone gets when a handcuff is squeezed shut to the last possible click.

Its a loose loose situation for the cops no matter what they do.

-Crack him in the back of the skull. Excessive force/media frenzy
-5 cops on him, with one foot of the back of his neck. Excessive force/media frenzy
-Tazer him..... Excessive force/media frenzy.

One thing that was brought up during the O'Reilly show last night was the cops didn't know if he had any kind of weapon on him.

- Loony gets away because of not enough force and gets Kerry... media frenzy...

Oh Pleasssse......
When was the last time you wrote a letter by hand and mailed it instead of sending an email?
If you need to cut up some wood and have a hand saw and a power saw, which one would you use?
Why would cops be any different and not use a modern convenient power tool to accomplish their job in a timely efficient manner?

There's nothing lazy about wanting to zap someone as opposed to risk getting injured while they're resisting. I call that smart, not lazy.

No, we're smart enough to use the technology available to enable us to perform required tasks efficiently.

This is what gets me is cops are doing everything they can to avoid pulling their weapon, and it's still not good enough for some folks.
