sure you can film it.
lets see the rebel is a 250?
I figure with my weight, if the tires even hold air with me on it, It should do what? like 20mph?

just kidding.

The other thing Im concerned with and will have to see if its a show stopper for me is my left foot. When my back went on my this last time, it pulled a nerve out of the spine and I have very limited (read almost none) ability to lift my foot, so I have to see if upshifting is even possible.

Have the same problem(left foot issues) and have wondered if I would be able to shift. Been 35 yrs since I rode and often think of buying another bike but after riding my sons 4-wheeler, found that shifting gears is dicey and a pain with the limited range of motion in my ankle/foot.

btw......APS, you need to take a ride on my bike....it's not slow and the vibration is just enough for me
I'd like to try it. Last sporty I rode was an 883 with the solid engine mounts.
Hands feet and butt go numb after about 75 miles.

Some of the cruisers, especially the "classic" models have a shifter that allows you to step down with your heel to upshift rather that pull up with your toe. Nice when you have an ingrown toenail or other issues. You also get the foot rests rather than pegs. I'll go look at pictures.

:yeahthat: That's how Peteys is set up

You can't have it. I'm going to mount a rack on the back of mine and use the Rebel for a spare.
The Yamaha VStar Classic has the heel toe set up and others too.VStar 4 U
Here's a 900 KAW It looks like it has it too. If your going two up though 900 might be a little weak.

Not many do unless you ridden one or got ridden by one who rides one :p :buddies:

Everyone has opinions. I’ve ridden several Hardlys; I’ve found a common theme. The “sit-up-and-beg” riding position is painful after an hour, handling is atrocious, the brakes are plain scary, and the vibes numb my hands and feet while reducing the rear views to mere decorations. All this on a hugely expensive machine. I will say relibility, paint, and overall fit and finish has greatly improved over the last several years, and Harley’s marketing folks are world class. Lots of folks love 'em, to each their own.

As for suggestions, I’d have to ask what do you intend to use the bike for? Sunny day short hops, daily commuter, Iron Butt rallies? I think the SV mentioned, with a heel-toe shifter affixed, would be a good jack-of-all-trades, and get you back in the saddle for a reasonable cost. After you’ve ridden it for a while, you can always sell and get the Kaw 1400.
Just my humble opinion,
Your mileage may vary.

Mostly longer rides. OC, Easton a couple times a week, SM
Up the mountains for a weekend ride, and, at the same time, shorter around town trips.
I dont think I need a 1400.
750 ~ 1200 should be more than enough for what I want.

OH, and I am also looking at the MPG VS function as well.

Ive grown out of the racing high speed idiot phase so as long as it will easily run the mountains at 70 mph with good comfort with two on it and some luggage, Im where I need to be.

though, I did find the trailer on my last one very usefull on some of the weekend camping trips I used it for, so I might want enough there to pull a trailer next year after I get a few miles under me again.

Take a look at Honda's ST1100, comfy enough for all day two up riding, yet still has some sport when the roads get twisty. Don't think you can pull a trailer with it, that's more like a Gold Wing option!

PS
For the record, the only high speed racing I've done has been on the track.

.
Last time I was at Atlantic, they still had my '04 1100 Shadow Spirit. Windshield, Leatherlyke locking hard bags and they removed the "rainbow" decal from the tank.
The Kurykan pegs looked bent but it was a good bike, just not enough corning ability for me.
You should be able to talk them down on the price if it's been sitting in the showroom for a year and a half :yay:
