BCP,

for your left foot...shifting wise...a heel toe shifter or an air shifter (like used in drag racing) is also an option. you could also do some crazy hand shifter on the gas tank like the old old bikes and put the clutch down at your left foot.

I might try to con her into letting me ride it once or twice to see if my foot is going to work properly or not.
would hate to get a new bike and not be able to get it out of first gear.
You are MORE THAN welcome to take the Rebel out. Let me know when you want to do it. I need to take it out this week to at least put a few miles on it and warm it up a bit. Any time..... Just let me know what works for you. I"m home by 4:00 most days. It will handle your weight. It can handle up to 300 pounds and you aren't near that. It also needs to be ridden.

The fist time you spend an entire day cleaning and polishing chrome spokes, you'll wish you had cast wheels.

lots of electronic shifters available too. I know a few Buell guys that have them and even use them at the track. tough, dependable stuff.

My cousin is looking into a similar set up. He can't shift with his left leg. Cancer took his knee, and titanium just ain't cutting it so far.

 You're supposed to polish the spokes? :lmao:

Not if you use the right polish once or twice a year....I take a hour or two on a rainy day and polish the bike and then wash it once or twice a week....just have to wipe off the water spots

friend of mine has had his for a little over 4 years and uses the same polish and his looks like he just drove it off the showroom floor

Don';t bother. 10 years, never polished a spoke. Most spokes aren't chrome anymore anyway. And if you buy aftermarket ones, if they aren't stainless, the chrome will come off and the spokes will rust in no time flat.

Most spoke sets from the manufacturer are a type of galvenized coating. if you hit it with the wrong polish, they turn black.

Just leave the spokes alone, unless you KNOW that you have chrome over crappy steel. In that case, rewire them. It's not that hard.

Don't think he was going to

Last bike I had with spokes, I was living in a beach house on the north shore of Ohau. Polished AL spokes and the salt air would turn them white. Couldn't keep them shiny no matter what, haven't owned a bike with spoked wheels since.

OK....I have a plan

Me and BS Gal take a road trip up to your house(her on the rebel) and we let you try out her bike....if you master the gear shift, you get to try mine(1200 sportser)

We could even have DR come with us and bring her "big girl bike"(yes, he will look a little ghey) and you could try that one before you try mine

btw....you wouldn't look good on a sporty....you need something bigger

I thought the rebel was his dingy?

but, sounds good to me. Im thinking about looking at them at the showrooms this weekend. Ya never know,,,,,

I like the sportster because it reminds me of the 1100 midnight special that I had. (for a very short time before getting the voyager)

but, I also really do like the way the 1600 kawasaki looks..

Have they worked on the vibration issue with the Harleys?
I remember that back in the day the motors were solid mount, did they move to a rubber mount on the sportster to take care of this?

There is NO way I'm taking the Rebel over the bridge.......Wind factor, little bike. I almost got my sunglasses blown off my head today coming home from work.

well, you can get up here without taking the bridge. by going up 5 to 301 to 214,, but, its kinda the long way around things.
