you should have a 2 way splitter before the modem. 1 coax to the modem and one the the hd box for the tv. hook the tv up to the cable box with a HDMI cable. The wireless router should be hooked up to the modem via a rj48 cable. Come on I am a girl and know this :poorbaby:
Here is my actual set up.

Well that is completly different then that mess you drew earlier. Change the 3way out to a 2 way that will increase the signal a little also about a 4db loss difference.
Yes my first sketch was wrong.
I'm actually using a 2 way but called it a 3 way meaning I have 3 connections.

It does have the white/yellow/red ports.

It sound like you don't have an HD Tivo box. So your tv was never actually getting an HD signal. Does the back of the Tivo look like this? This is an HD one.

You can use that instead of RF, but that's composite video, lowest resolution/quality just after RF. So it's actually a step up for you. It also gives you true discrete stereo.
Ok here is more detail. I have the HDMI connected between Tivo & TV along with RF. If I disconnect the RF, I lose signal at TV.

The coax is RF and the yellow/red/white is composite video (yellow) with stereo (left/right). No HDMI in that pic. If you disconnect the RF, you have to tell the TV to use the COMPOSITE input. It's currently set to ANTENNA.

My cable comes directly into a modem I purchased. Leaves the modem to a 3-way splitter then to a wireless router and the TV. See attached sketch.

I don't know what HDMI cables are... :blushing:

Not sure if it would make a difference but I would think you'd want your splitter BEFORE your modem.. One less "joint" less signal loss..

Would THIS face lie?
I think I have some extra HDMI cables if you want to try one and change your TV settings.. Otherwise, I am confused as hell..
