Just found out I’m not having turkey on turkey day. My wife refused to buy the $75 butterball. She bought the $12 chicken instead.
:huggy:
Go buy some stuffed ham to have!

Harris Teeter had Turkey for .29 cents/pound if you spent $40. My 39 dollar Turkey cost 4.57.Made me sad to read about your stolen checks. Take care. Happy Thanksgiving and God bless The USA!

??? There's ALWAYS an outlet selling turkeys cheap UNLESS you go the name brand premium route. Giant is selling them at 37 cents a pound. Got ours for just under 7 bucks.

Just sneakin' around....
Stores are crazy right now. No cream at all in Giant, no whole milk (in half gallons). Decided on ratatouille for a side, needed some squash. Dammit...forgot the Roma tomatoes.... anyway, found a real nice rib roast on sale at HT. I'll use that between Christmas and New Years.

And HT had the $5 snack pack of crab legs. That's lunch.

I don't usually make the Piperade.

There is no cream at all in Prince Frederick as of Sunday, either. Might have some in Walmart, they were supposed to be getting in a shipment.

I only needed it to make whipped cream and I just decided my Cherry Crisp would taste better with a very good vanilla ice cream instead!

Missus just got home from battling the crazy crowds at Walmart and Weis...

Not crazy about GBC myself, but always took a little bit just so no feelings were hurt. There are too many other things to eat on a holiday dinner table.
I have never made GBC as it's not one of my favorite foods so I get full on all the other stuff I guess. This year with my loss of income from 2 weeks home sick with Covid with no pay plus the increase in the cost of almost everything, I hope to snag a Rotisserie chicken at Costco on Wednesday and get some bake/serve rolls and a few potatoes to mash and call it a day. I refuse to go near my elderly family members (who do make GBC lol) since I work in such a germ filled environment.

Yikes. Wife wanted some so I drove down to Chaptico Market. 15 a pound. Wow. NOW I actually miss McKay's.

I'm missing them too this week. I always got the crab dip for the holidays. Year round actually, but always for the holidays.

We raised beef on our farm...always had a small herd. Sold/processed some as veal too. All our calves were Holstein-Angus cross from the dairy herd.

It's "our turn" to host TG this year for the extended family. I don't know all the sides or deserts we're having yet; I'm only responsible for the meat menu:
smoked turkey
thin-sliced country ham (starting that to soaking today)
baked fresh ham
spicy stuffed ham
mild stuffed ham
oysters (grilled, Rockefeller and fried)
Who's bringing the ham stuffed ham? :yum:
