DEMS! Please pay attention! The question AGAIN is:

How far do we go before we officially pronounce someone dead, and WHO gets to make the decision on behalf of someone who can't speak for themselves?????


Which leads me to a poll.......

I've taken Dems off "ignore" and will add a hearty to vrai's post. Please answer the question. How far do we go? Put her in a deep freeze until the year 3000, if there is a year 3000, and see what can be done for her then. Of course, if by some chance she can be revived and given a full life again, everyone she ever knew will be long dead unless we freeze them too. What part do we freeze? I mean some people are actually having this done. Never mind the fact that the freezing process now explodes the cell structure and everything turns to mush when thawed. Do we freeze just her head? That is the economy job; they figure they can find a body donor at a later date. Strange, if they will be able to reconstruct a human from just a head, why would there be body donors? Freeze all of her? Tell us. Where does it stop?

I'm not in the mood for debate today... but the exaggeration of freezing her until 3000 is certainly not one of the options in the case at hand. If so, that would be a different subject... I think the person is dead when the heart stops beating on its own. I think of the heart in more of a spiratual/love sense than as a muscular organ. So, that's my answer... she still has a heart beat and is still alive although not very cognizant. I think she shoudl be given the benefit of the doubt and let the parents rehabilitate her the way they want to... I don't see why the hubby doesn't just divorce her and move on and out of her life and say... OK parents... you think you can do a better job... have at it...give it a year,etc.....

Just wish they'd leave this poor girl in peace. She doesn't deserve another 15 years on a feeding tube. No one knows how much pain she's in or what is in her head, and no matter how many doctors or opinions are gotten, unless she sits up and speaks, no one will ever know. Everyone can stand around saying this is what she wanted, but no one knows except maybe the husband. I know my parents don't have a clue what I want. My daughter knows, my brothers know, and I have a living will if all else fails and everyone gets stupid all of a sudden.
