I do take notice that, in America... if a Christian preaches exclusion and hate, that seems to be just fine. However, if a non-Christian does the same, everyone's ready to murder the guy.
I have never heard Jerry Fallwell say the word "hate". He says certain things are ungodly and wrong (and technically according the Bible that he preaches from, they are), but he doesn't preach "hate".

And those "non-Christians" you referred to are actively killing people, not simply talking.

He's thinking of Pat Robertson, who is a religious extremist.

Well, I'm not going to initiate an historical records sweep to see if he's said "hate" or not. However, you'd be hard-pressed to convince me that many (if not all) of his intolerant views were not fueled by hatred.

Which non-Christians are you talking about? Obviously...the Al-Qaedas and other franchises of Islamic terrorism are our active targets. That does not discount my claim...in America, if you're "Christian"...you can pretty much get away with anything you say. (Unless you're Mel Gibson... :ohwell:)

The compassion and tolerance that I found in this thread are truly heartwarming.

You've been a member of these forums since 2003. If you come here looking for "compassion and tolerance",...you have serious mental/memory issues that can only be dealt with by the most experienced of mental health professionals.

No, I'm not.
You must be because Jerry Falwell gets going once in awhile, but he's not a fire and brimstone nutjob like Pat Robertson.

I will tell you that I really don't like it when people base their opinions on the crap the Leftist media spews, instead of reading and hearing what these people have to say for themselves.

What, Kerad, exactly are Fallwell's "views"? And please cite examples, not just what he is portrayed as.

Actually, I found exactly what I was expecting.

The elemental foundation that splits Jerry Falwell from people like Kerad is an enormous Crevasse

Evolution is a root: From this we see moral relativism, humanism, atheism, post modernism, homosexuality, abortion, self mutilation etc..That is the fruit of the evolution Tree. In addition there is a denial of truth-- "man does what is right in his own eyes."

Falwell: undeniably based his sermons, teachings, and yes conjecture on interpretation of KJV scripture. Thus...only those who edit out of context, refuse the authenticity or scripture, and reject our moral foundations scream "He was intolerant! He spews hatred! He was a BIGOT !!!"

and the hypocrisy mirror has never been clearer...for the wicked shall perish for want of the truth.

Who said I don't hate the Muslim fundamentalist nutjobs??? I hate the nut jobs of all religions, equally.

...there. I have never seen you fly off at true psycho's like you do people who are you're own countrymen.

If Falwell is hate, WTF is Osama or Abindinajabajerkoffoffazz or the Dillweed in Syria or some Islamic holy man who says killing you and me is just peachy?

You show some perspective and I'll acknowledge it.

I've always gotten Falwell and Robertson confused. Someone at the office corrected me.

Falwell's a decent person, Robertson is not. Plain and simple.

...if you read Osama's fatwah against us and any number of other radicals opinions of the 'Great Satan' they state in their own words it is our lack of faith and our free lifestyles that they fear are attacking their culture. They are fighting Hollywood a hell of a lot more than Falwell ever did.

Osama's fatwah does not justify the way that Falwell used 9/11. As I said earlier, it wasn't the message as much as the timing:

I cannot give him credit for using the pain of 9/11 for his own personal and political gain. He was completely justified to have his own opinion, and to eventually voice it, but less than 48 hours after it happened was just wrong.

Hmmm...I was unaware that Jerry Falwell was calling for the death of those who don't share his religious beliefs.

The imams are only citing passages from their Bible. THEY aren't calling for the death of the infidel, their Bible does... they are following the word of God that is written in their Bible.

My Source: The Quran.

Bully for them. But you still can't liken Jerry Falwell to those freaks because they aren't even close to being the same.
