Same Bushmaster Chain gun, M3 Bradley.. Basically the same turret I believe.LAV doesn't have a TOW launcher?

My son is a 0352 Commander in a LAV Recon missile launcher.... This pic is when he sat in the launcher seat under that TOW launcher on top of the LAV.

Can't tell from the picture, but the original LAV AT had the same crappy hammerhead launcher our 901 APCs had. Over half we removed the hammerhead and used them as APCs only.

I do think they have an improved AT version now, very similar to the Bradley Launcher. Saw an article this week, Bradley is going to be upgunned to either a 40mm or 50mm chain gun

Son looks good, have to be proud!

one of ours turned skyward and went for the moon, we never did find it ...... given the trajectory it might have let the post .... it was headed in the general direction of Widefield Co

I don't remember collecting wire, but the wreckage of the inert missiles was fun to tear apart

we had one in the Company office on top of a bookcase .. only missing one fin
We thought we had an inert sidewinder in our learning center, until a USAF ROMAD visited, and took a look at it. Come to find out it was a live missile with a live warhead. God knows how many dumbasses handled that missile..

Thanks, I just texted him, Hes in an upgraded LAV-AT
Other than launching a few, the most fun he said he has had was school for the MK25 and shooting one in another LAV in Palms back yard...

  • LAV-AT (Anti-Tank)
LAV fitted with an Emerson 901A1 TOW-2 ATGM (Anti-Tank Guided Missile) launcher, the same turret that was fitted on the M901 ITV (Improved TOW Vehicle). It is also armed with a pintle-mounted M240E1 or M240B general-purpose machine gun. It carries a total of 16 TOW missiles, and 1,000 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition.LAV-ATM (Modernization) replaces the Emerson turret with the Modified Target Acquisition System (MTAS) turret. Improvements include always being in the up position to scan and track while moving and a more reliable digital design. The turret is also unmanned, can fire both wire-guided and radio frequency TOW missiles, has an improved thermal sight, Far Target Location system, new commander/gunner video sight displays, and an electric elevation and azimuth drive system to rotate the system onto target. Development began in 2012 and fielding started in September 2017.

Up. Identified. Lase. Fire. On the way.
Germany 81-83, Old M151 Jeeps, M113 and M901 (ITV), still had Spotlight Tanks (M60A3), Green pickle suits, and steel pots.. AND the Tanks didn't have M2 (Ma Deuce) but the problem child M85 .50 Cal..

Got BDU Field Jackets first.. to wear with our pickle suits.. upgraded to M60A3 TTS while there (Thermal Sights, no more spotlights)

Slowly changed to Greeen T-shirts, from White, BDU uniforms.

84-86, Ft Knox.. First unit in the Army to have both M1s and M3s (saw the M1s at the ranges in Germany, but our Unit didn't get them until I had left).

M16A2, SAW.. M242..
Germany, 82-85. When I was a platoon leader, we were under the H-series TO&E for cav squadrons. My cav platoon had four M60A3 TTS (we turned in our M60A3 spotlights just before I got there; laser and thermal on the A3TTS was FANTASTIC!), two M113A2 (with Dragons), two M901 ITV, one M113A1 "command track" (that's be me) and one M106 4.2' mortar track (proud to say I qualified on both the M60A3 and M106). Of course, at both troop and squadron level we had the assorted M113, M578, and M577 command tracks, as well as my favorite, the M88. As for wheels, M151 1/4 tons and M35 2 1/2 tons. The squadron support platoon had a bunch of 5 tons. The jeeps were a blast, the 2 1/2 & 5 tons always broke down!

Vietnam era slanted pocket fatigues and steel pot. Kevlar helmets showed up as I was getting ready to PCS out. Never used Nomex; too expensive. So we used MOPP as a poor substitute.

Absolutely loved it those several years. Thanks for bumping some really good old memories.

BREAKING: Rittenhouse will not be charged for gun offenses in Illinois—gun did not cross state lines

Antioch police say Rittenhouse's rifle was purchased, stored, and Wisconsin, which would not violate Illinois law, the attorney's office told the Chicago Sun Times in a statement.

Rittenhouse was also never in possession of the gun in the state of Illinois, evidence shows.

Rittenhouse faces charges of first-degree intentional homicide after an incident in Kenosha, Wisconsin during the riots after the shooting of Jacob Blake. Rittenhouse discharged his weapon, killing two protestors, and also shot and wounded a third.

He also faces charges of underage firearm possession in Wisconsin.

Rittenhouse is currently being held in the Lake County Juvenile Detention Center without bond. He is due in court on October 30.

Man Who Fired First Shots Behind Kyle Rittenhouse in Kenosha Has Been Charged

The man who fired the first shots from behind Kyle Rittenhouse during the fatal incident in Kenosha has been charged.

Joshua Ziminski, 35, has been charged with disorderly conduct and use of a dangerous weapon for firing his weapon during the incident on August 25.

According to the charging document, obtained by The Gateway Pundit, while investigating the shooting by Rittenhouse, Kenosha detectives obtained videos in which Ziminski “was holding a black handgun, which he was holding in his left hand, pointing downward. Detective Howard reports that in reviewing multiple other videos, he was able to see the defendant and Kelly Ziminski, in and around multiple other people on the streets, and the defendant was seen holding the handgun down at his side in said videos.”
“In another video, the defendant and Kelly are seen walking near a fire in the area of the Ultimate Gas Station lot. In later video, the defendant’s right arm is seen on the video, which is taken near 63rd Street and Sheridan Road, in the City and County of Kenosha, State of Wisconsin. Detective Howard reports the defendant’s arm pointing the gun upward towards the sky,” the document explains. “Detective Howard observed a muzzle flash emit from the handgun, and heard a gunshot at the same time. In another video, the defendant is clearly seen at that same location. The defendant is seen walking in the same area, holding his right arm upwards, and firing off one shot from his handgun. The defendant and his wife are then seen leaving the area. Several other people are in the nearby vicinity when the defendant fires the handgun.”

Prosecutors apparently have finally gotten around to watching the copious video footage of the shootings at the Kenosha riots, which Rittenhouse’s attorneys believe shows the 17-year-old boy reasonably felt in fear for his life and acted defensively while being actively attacked by rioters.
Wisconsin Right Now reports that protest rioter Joshua Ziminski was initially charged with multiple counts and admitted to shooting a “warning shot” into the air. Now, the charges have been reduced to one; a charge of “disorderly conduct with the use of a dangerous weapon modifier.”
Joshua Ziminski “was holding a black handgun, which he was holding in his left hand, pointing downward. Detective Howard reports that in reviewing multiple other videos, he was able to see the defendant and Kelly Ziminski [his wife], in and around multiple other people on the streets, and the defendant was seen holding the handgun down at his side in said videos.”
It appears Ziminski’s aim that night was to stir up chaos. The 6’5″ bearded man appears in the video towering over others gathered at a scrum of people near Joseph Rosenbaum, who was later shot by Rittenhouse.

Things escalated. Video shows that Ziminsky, who had scrapes with police before, including domestic violence, openly carried a loaded pistol and at one point raised his arm into the air and fired the gun. The muzzle flash could be seen on video. Both he and his wife, who was with him at the riot and who appeared at various places in videos, admitted that he had fired the weapon. Video also shows them quickly leaving after he fired the shot.

‘He would be my favorite Muslim’: MSNBC political analyst wants you to imagine if Kyle Rittenhouse were Muslim

Just to get things out of the way, we think the first-degree murder charges against 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse are a joke that will be thrown out of court because multiple angles from multiple cameras show that he fired three times in self-defense, killing two and wounding a third after being chased down. But still, clowns like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez think Rittenhouse is the example of privilege for being let out on bail — $2 million cash bail — raised by people who recognize self-defense when they see it. Oh, and Joe Biden’s campaign smeared Rittenhouse as a white supremacist, a myth which is still making the rounds, even by district attorneys who think a white kid shooting three white guys showed “strong evidence” of “racial bias.”

Ocasio-Cortez also asked, “Does anyone believe Rittenhouse would be released if he were Muslim and did the same thing in a different context?” We’re not sure if this was inspired by AOC’s tweet or if great minds just think alike, but MSNBC political analyst Mehdi Hasan also wants you to imagine if Rittenhouse were a Muslim.
