Yup. So, what's the point of the back up thingy?

It provides a place for you to backup or manipulate your contact info. Say I add someone into my contacts today, at midnight it backs that contact up on my account at Verizonwireless.com. If I ever loose my info because the phone conks or gets lost it automatically loads everything into the new phone.

Also you can periodically go to the online account and edit/delete or add contacts on your PC without having to goof with the tiny buttons and menus on the phone, click a button and it pushes all the data to your contacts folder on your phone.

If you drop your phone in the toilet after a night of drunken posting and have to get a new phone... Verizon can push your backup to your new phone. If you don't use the back up feature... you are SOL. Beside, I believe there is a $10 charge for phone to phone transfer by the techie. If you get it from the backup it's free.

As a company Verizon has their shiat together. From products to online account access and support I have never really had a complaint.

Vrai -- if you care about pictures, don't get the Voyager. great phone otherwise, but there's no effing zoom so that makes it a little more difficult :frown:

I looked up consumer reports when i was lookin for my phone and it said what phones had what megapixel for cam, but i don't remember. i think the samsung flipshot was among the better phone for pix.

that's the blackberry storm actually. but dare is similar.

:yeahthat: you can do it from your phone too.

I have the storm. It's taken some getting used to, I can tell ya, but I'm really beginning to get accustomed to it. The dare has a touch screen whereas the storm is heat-sensitive, which means you have to used your fingertips, and not your fingernails. The camera is a 3.2 and takes AWESOME pics. Comes with a 8G memory card.

I love being able to access my email from wherever I am. I get a tone just like I do when I get a text message and I have both my personal and work emails set up on my Storm.

You may want to go that route, Vrai. I'm thinking you are a very "portable" person who doesn't stay in one place very long.

If you have verizon you can get the backup service and you just upload all of your crap to it and then download it to the new phone. Very easy.

I like my phone...Dare.

Vrai, go NOW to your online Verizon account and set up auto-backup. That way you always have access to your numbers should your phone die or you chose to get a new one... it's a free service.

I had no idea this even existed. I'll do it right now!

I thought Verizon now had all your info on a server somewhere as a matter of course? I've bought a new phone before without the old one (broke) and they got me up and running.

Varia: If you get a nice phone, pay the $5 a month insurance. It's worth it.

Al about destroyed hers and they just replaced the thing, NC.

I love my Blackberry. Great pics, email, unlimited internet, blackberry to blackberry service, unlimited texting, lots of music to either download or have streaming, games, movies to watch, tv shows to see, gps tracking, turn by turn directions, and more. The phone does everything but make my coffee, and it might be able to do that I just haven't figured out that feature yet.

I am *gasp* considering getting a new cellphone. Yes, I know - I said my current phone did everything I needed it to. But I've changed my mind. :gossip: can take better pics with his cellphone, and they're a standard file format, not some crazy proprietary one that nobody can open if I send it to their email.

Plus I think I should have more storage for my pics and ringtones.

Any suggestions? What do you have and do you like it? I have Verizon service, if that makes a difference. Plus I want to be able to transfer my numbers, etc, to the new phone and not have to re-enter everything.

TIA!
I have the Motorolla V750 (I think). Bought an expansion memory chip for it. Tons of storage. Good picture quality.

How much is the crackberry service cost? I can do email, web browsing and all that on my Dare but the packages that include data are too pricey for me because I would rarely use it.

I did read the forum one night back during Christmas form GA and it cost me about $5 which in itself wasn't bad except it was for all but an hour or so.

Does the heat from your face activate buttons when you are talking?

 No, but I have been known to press too hard on the screen while talking and mute the person I'm talking too.

I believe it's $29.99 per month but I haven't got my first phone bill with the new phone yet.

So you have the plan charges and the data package (email and web browsing) is $30 ontop of that? Not so bad I guess. My Dare is set up to download my Verizon.net email and yahoo.com email but it requires another subscription.

Yep sounds about right. I was spending $70 a month on service and didn't get half the crap I get now. I can have up to ten (I think, maybe more) email accounts set up on it. Unlimited internet browsing is fantastic. There are also lots of websites out that have other features that are available for downloading onto your blackberry, - gidgets and gadgets galore. It's a PDA, it's a laptop, it's a phone, it's a tracking system, it's more!

It is all paid to Verizon or do you pay Verizon for the phone part and someone else for the crackberry data part?

All verizon. One bill/statement whatever. But since it's the same price each month - no unexpected fees or charges either. Also, I got a pretty nifty rebate on my blackberry too. So if you are interested, it's worth it to watch the sales.
