This is why I hate Apple

Check out non-Apple tablets before you buy. Consumer Reports gave the Samsung Galaxy a great review, and Google Nexus is supposedly a good one as well.

I sort of wanted a tablet but wasnt sure. I was in Big Lots the other day and they had a 7 inch Android tablet from Polariod for $89 so I bought it, the little thing works great, the screen resolution is low but for something I wasnt entirely sure I would use to begin with it was definatley worth the $89.

The iPad I bought two years ago for $800 is now an obsolete piece of garbage. The OS is 4.3 and every one of my apps except Kindle no longer work because they now only work with 5.0. Would be great if I could get the new OS on my current iPad but...OFW too bad for me.

I will never buy another Apple piece of #### again and I'm glad Steve Jobs is dead. Hope it was as painful as dealing with his bull#### machines is. ####ing 99% hippie bastards.

I suppose you never heard of planned obsolesce? Guess not.. Since every other pad out there does reach that state eventually. Hardware evolves along with software so its not just Apple.......And cursing the dead is pretty lame.....

I would think the old apps should still work though. I had an old HP laptop and every program I had on it still worked till the day that it died.

Lol, give android a try and see how much whining you do

Ps iOS 5 can update without iTunes

Really? My android tablet has updated its software three or four times since I had it - all automatically and without losing apps, having to redownload stuff, etc... The only glitch was one time I had to reconfigure my quick links to my apps on my home screen.

My Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 works great. :yay:

The only issue I have had was with an app I love that the app writer wrote for Ipads and when relasing for Anroid hasn't bothered to add all the same functionality; but that doesn't mean I need an overpriced Ipad just to mess with one app.

Yikes! Really? I was thinking of buying one this year for myself for Christmas. :jameo: I don't need it for much, except the convenience of it all.

You know what? Take a look at the Kindle Fire. For basic use, it's supposed to be a pretty good tablet.

See..that is why there are reviews so that you can be an informed consumer instead of a pissed off user!

I like my macs and my PCs and my iPods, kids grew up on them! We have a few lying about. Only major issue, ( and we live with it) is not being able to combine all the separate play lists into one. ( not as easy as one would like). But we are OK with it. No big deal!

Research before you buy and end up with ours of headaches!

Just wondering..did you call Apple and talk to someone? Their customer service is great!:buddies:

I know some folks at work that are so attached to their Kindle readers! They rave about them!
I might look into getting one someday instead of an iPad!!

I would recomend the Google Nexus 7, no need to sideload or root to get Google Play (app store) on it.

The Kindle Fire is a nice piece of hardware but the OS is sort of locked down, but still easily hackable for someone who is willing to learn some.

When I got it two years ago, that's all there was in the way of tablets. And honestly I liked it just fine, with a few software exceptions*, until they decided to upgrade the OS and not bother to tell users, then make the apps no longer work with the older OS, then make it a PITA to upgrade the OS manually.

* It's Apple. Why are the iPad browser and email program so lame?? I can sort of live with the Safari browser, which has no means of backtracking except one at a time, or you can try and guess in your History tab. The email, however, is just about as stupid as an email program can be and almost completely worthless. My Droid phone does a better job of handling email than the iPad.

I feel the same way with MS Office..2003 is great! the latest one..Boooo...
Same with PC..I like my old Win 95 ( just for games) I love XP, and Mac, but every time you go to get a new PC, you are forced to buy the latest OS!!
Remember Corel Word Perfect? Much better than MS Office..but it was bought out and faded away. We still use it for some spread sheets, etc.
Why? It is better and easier to use than MS Office!! (go figure...)
Some programs refuse to run on newer OSes!!!
It would be a nice place if ALL the programs, apps, etc "could live as one"!!

I have an Acer Iconia A500 and love it, never had any problem with the Android OS. Always tells me when an update is available, keeps all app information and puts it back on after the update. My only complaint is that I lose root access after every update.

My phone on the other hand will never see stock Motorola software as long as I own it, while I have no issues with the stock firmware, I like the feeling and overall flexibility of a custom rom.

i have a Kindle and really like it. I use it for surfing, reading, the boy uses it for reading and games and netflix. Have not had an issue with it- other than getting it away from the 8 year old long enough to actually read anything!! Usability very good. reasonable price. I have been happy with it.:dye:

If you hover over the back button it will give you the list of the last 15 sites.

I just updated my gen 1 Kindle to the new Paperwite and found out that I can get on the internet with it as well. I have been able to access FB, my email account and several other websites. Who knew...of course the one I have only has WiFi and black and white but it stil works for me and seems to be very fast. My Droid phone has been seamless when it performs its updates.
