Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- Southwest Airlines apologized a second time Monday to film director Kevin Smith for pulling him off a Saturday flight because of his size.

"We're very sorry for how his night unfortunately played out," Southwest said in a written statement.

The airline said it "could have potentially handled our communication better," but defended "the determination that Mr. Smith needed more than one seat to complete his flight comfortably." ----------------->more

I'm a fan of Kevin Smith and a fan of Southwest. I'm not a fan of being squashed by a supersized passenger sitting next to me. Thoughts?

If you've EVER sat next to a person so fat that they took up half of your seat, you'd know SouthWest did the right thing..

Delta, on the other hand, would have let him sit in the Emergency Row, so nobody else could get through the door if the need arose.

Personally I think they should have to buy an entire row. NOBODY should have to suffer sitting next to them, or the stewardesses having to work their way around them in the aisle.

Super Genius
They were discussing this on the news and had some random muscle-head on defending Southwest. Looking at him on the TV, I seriously doubt that he would be able to fit in a single seat either. :dork:

How would you like to be the poor sap stuck in the middle of these two in coach!??

And I believe the one on the right is a woman waiting in an airport during the blizzard for her flight.

I just think this is wrong in sooooo many ways. Why should it matter how big you are they should just have seats that everyone can fit in. Maybe the airlines needs to think about this and make extra large seats in a few rows then problem solved and it saves embarrassment and the airlines bad publicity.

Maybe the airline should not be embarrassed about the reality that some people are so large they create risk for everyone else.

I have been in that situation for a 10 hour flight to Japan. Plus they mostly reek of tobacco smoke plus fish and sneak into the johnny to smoke throughout the flight. :barf:

Not on the flight to Orlando that I was on...two women were met by the police for smoking in the bathroom.

No, if the alarm goes off the flight attendant pulls them out of the johnny. But over the Pacific, the flight cannot divert to arrest them at the nearest airport.

For some of those guys, the alarm doesn't work (they're electronics geniuses you know.) :lmao: Or maybe they don't bother with alarms on JAL.

Or are you ok paying $2500 for a ticket that would cost you $400 today to appease the sweaty fat masses??

And what's the difference between having to pay for a "special" fat seat, or buying two seats? They are both going to be taking up the same amount of room. Or are you suggesting because they are fat they should get extra room, more comfort and convenience at no extra cost?

I think Smith is a fat, grotesque POS, who, like all libs and America-haters, sees an apology as weakness, and is going to exploit it for all it's worth. SW should have told him to go pound sand. Gaurantee we wouldn't have heard a peep out of his slimey suck.

Maybe they should start a fat airline and call it "Jumbo Air" they could have 60 seats on a 737 instead of the normal 150. See how they like the fares then

If they make changes to the plane for fat people, with special rows.. etc..

I'm going to demand special rows for people over 6 feet tall.. Unlike fat people I have ZERO control over how tall I am. Yet I get no special seating (for free anyways) for my longer than normal legs. It's WRONG I tell ya.. I'm being disriminated against!!

I wonder how Shaq would feel in one of those Southwest airline seats

Silent Bob is a wealthy person and could certainly afford two seats. And he certainly wouldn't be comfortable being jammed in one little seat. I think this is bull and he's only making a stink to garner publicity.
