Unrestrained Kids

I did not realize that they made booster seats for 100lb children?

My youngest has been right around 90-100 lbs for a little over 2 years now....he is 10

 Whatever you do with your kids is your business, I'm just saying what I do with mine. When SockTard rolls up to your window and starts screaming obscenities at you, just remember that I tried to help :lmao:

You guys are such products of your pop culture. When I was a kid, cars didn't even have seatbelts, let alone carseats for children. The vast majority of my peers are still alive.
I can't tell you how many times I've heard my mother say the exact same thing...

It's just like the old construction workers that always say "I've been doing this for 30 years and haven't gotten hurt yet". All it takes is one time.

Hooold the phone... I'll bet you Vera would buckle her precious tomato plants in if she chose to take them for a ride...

:roflmao: I would laugh... hard... and in her face.

I'm not saying I agree with her  Why do you think I've heard her say it so many times? We've had this arguement :yay:

In my opinion back when we were kids and we didn't wear seat belts, there were fewer cars on the road and we did not travel near as fast as cars do today. That is why there are seat belts in cars today. There are millions, maybe even billions more cars on the road today and we travel twice as fast. It's down right dangerous to put a child in a car without a restraint. IF you don't they become a human missile in a car accident.

As far as no restraints in buses, with that many children on the bus it would be safer not to have them if they were involved in a rollover, how long do you think it would take to get them out of that tangled mess if they were in seat belts with that many children in the bus? TOO LONG! That is why there isn't any. It's common sense to me. But it is also just my observance.

I've got a real nice scar behind my right ear from shattering a windshield with my head when I was 16. It was a slow speed accident thank heavens or I would be either horribly scarred or dead. A simple seatbelt would have turned that crash into small fender bender with no injuries and no emergency room visit for head Xrays and stitches.

About a month ago 2 teens were ejected through the windshield of an SUV on the country road in front of my house. The two wearing belts walked away. The two without belts were not so lucky, the girl died on the scene and the boy is still in the hospital with severe head injuries. Her family comes every few days to walk the accident site and put down fresh flowers where she bled out.

Fact: Three of five people killed in vehicle accidents would have survived their injuries had they been wearing their seat belts. (Source: NHTSA)

About 80 percent of all injuries to children in car crashes are injuries to the head, causing brain damage, permanent disfigurement, epilepsy or death.

Of every 100 children who die in motor vehicle crashes at least 80 would survive if they were properly secured in an approved child safety seat or safety belts. (They figure 3 out of 4 seats are not installed properly)

Why would anyone deliberately risk their children so? I guess it's just too inconvenient to take a second to buckle them in. It's too bad they feel their rights are being infringed upon when forced to protect their kids from the next drunk barrelling down the road... :ohwell:

That's not why. The kids complain about getting buckled up. Once the kid complains the parent tries to be their friend. Gosh forbid little Johnny cries, let him run free in the car. :bigwhoop:
