Update on geezer who shot the skateboarders?

I don't really care about the kids. I don't know if they are evil little pricks or idiots who were doing something stupid as all kids will do. I am not excusing their behavior, they should have been punished.

I just don't think the punishment should be shot in the ass.

The person who is really being punished is the dumb ass who shot them. Even if he is not convicted, and I really doubt that is going to happen, this is still going to have a huge financial cost for him.

Do you still think it was a good idea?
Maybe. You and I have 0 clue what really was happening in this chain of events. You are wildly speculating based on your beliefs and what little snippets have been written by others who weren't there..
Maybe the guy is senile.
Maybe he's an ex-con and wants to go back to jail.
Maybe his insurance has run out and he's off his meds.
Maybe his savings and retirement have depleted quicker than expected and this was his ticket to free long term care.
Maybe, just maybe he was fed up with taking shiite from this bunch that was terrorizing him and his neighbors.

Are you really that much of an idiot? Reading comprehension must not be your strong suit!
I spoke with a professional about this. Nope, not an idiot. Reading comprehension is fine. Speech, normal. Hearing and vision, normal. Decision was made that, "obviously, I have a pink bunny homophobia".

So according to today's Recorder, Mr. Arminger won't spend any time in prison, but have 5 yrs surpervised probation, and attend anger management classes.

:coffee:

:yahoo: Wonder how they managed to get that? According to most, he shoulda been strung up by the left gonad.

I'm not really speculating on anything. I'm offering my opinion based on the news reports and accounts which we all have read.

Some of the maybes you have written may all be true. My point is, his actions are going to be far worse on him than they are on the victim.

I'm not going by maybes though, I’m going based on what's reported. I haven's seen anything from any credible source which would negate those facts.

Here is a fact. This guy is now a felon, can't possess a firearm and has to report to parole and probation for the next five of his "golden" years. The only thing I speculated on is his lawyer fees, which I feel confident in being in the ball park.

My question again, is how is that workin out for him?

IMO, you'd have to ask him how much $ his peace, quiet and security is worth to him. If it's worth 10 grand, then I think it worked out just fine for him. He gets to go out once a month and meet with a probation officer. I'm sure if he's smart, he'll schedule his other appointments around the same day and make a day of it.

And didn't someone already ask you that if you're so concerned with how things are working out for Mr. Arminger, maybe you should make a contribution????

Talk about :deadhorse

No, but I asked several people who are defending him if they had donated.

Sure, there's no liberty taken away from this guy. He's now a felon, can't own a firearm. He's on probation, can't leave the state without "permission".

Don't forget, we haven't gotten to the civil part of this. 10K may be nothing when that's done.

Well, then that explains a lot! :howdy:

They'll sue his homeowners policy. Doubt he'll pay a dime anyway.

Don't think he'll be applying for any jobs that will ask if he's a convicted felon. Doubt anyone else will even ask. Can't own a firearm? I've never been convicted of a felony and I don't own a firearm. What's the big deal? Not everyone needs to have a gun. Can't leave the state without "permission?" Do you think he's out planning weekly vacations? If that were the case, he wouldn't have been home to be harrassed by these boys in the first place. I'm sure the probabtion officer is going to tell him he can't leave the state. :bigwoop:

He's in this spot because he had a firearm. Seems like something he wanted or felt he needed.

Whether he goes somewhere or not isn't the issue. Having to "request" permission to leave the state would be an issue for most people.

So dying as a felon is ok with you and yours? Nice huh?

If you think this was a good idea, that's your opinion. My opinion is his recklessness has cost him a hell of a lot more than it cost this kid.

Good lord, will you get over it? You're not going to convince anyone that this man didn't have a right to protect his property and safety.

The kid got what was coming to him, too bad the old dude didn't knock out a few more of the little punks, and it's a shame that people get punished at all for fending off predators.

I'm not fighting the issue with you. It is what it is. He did what he did. He was judged for what he did. He'll live and eventually die with what he did. Nothing is going to change that. Nothing to argue about.

I think there were a lot of people that learned lessons from what happened. Hopefully it won't ever happen again.

Have a great day.

Since we live in the state of denial where nobody has the right of self defense unless one is threatened with death I wonder if a crime was committed when the:
Kids trespassed, threatened and swore at residents, pounded on their doors and in general made a nuisance of themselves.

If so, what happened to those charges?

Old man gets five years probation and is a felon. Kids should be tried as juvies for an array of charges.
Maybe they haven't tried enough people?
