Weird nasty bump

I'm glad to hear Molly responded so well to treatment.

I now have custody of my son's 3 year old boxer. I've had him for going on three weeks now. Two weeks ago I noticed a spot on his back by his shoulder blade. I thought he had a tick. It wasn't. This morning I noticed it has now tripled in size. I will need to make him a vet appointment. My question is: I recently switched vets with my older dogs to All Kinds. You think it would be ok to take him there? Anyone know if the vets there are good with boxers and these tumors? I'm praying it's not MCT, but need to get him checked to be sure. I've also been switching his food (he had him on Bil Jack sensitive stomach) to Earthborne which is grain free. Any chance this could be some kind of reaction to his food change?

nope....

its a boxer...... they get masses/tumors

All kinds is great!!!! see if you can get in with Adam.... dont know if they let you pick.

and he has not have any shots the past week right?

does it feel SQ or deeper into the muscle :coffee:

No shots. I don't know how deep it is.

Like I said, it started out really tiny. I thought it was a tick. This morning it's about the size of a dime. I'll get him an appointment there.

when pixie was on here she took her dog there for a tumor of some sort and they did great. I would give them a try Dr. Autumn Terry was good with bruno when we found a lump on her she tested it asap and glad to find out was just a cyst no tumor but we have to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't grow or become angry (which means inflamed).

Oh I'm sorry to hear that. I'm not familiar with All Kinds, but I read/hear on these threads that it's a favorite of quite a few others with dogs. Your boxer is young too, the vet I saw was very shocked because of Molly's age so maybe you're will turn out the same !! Dr. Craig was really great too, and her mother is a boxer breeder so she was very familiar with the breed and their strong history of tumors.

I would take the little guy to any Vet that you prefer. If you aren't secure in what they have to say...move on. I have heard nothing but GOOD stuff about them, but keep in mind, I've never been there. I hope it is not MCT, but if it is...time is of the essence. Keep us posted, and fingers crossed.

My brother's dog gets ingrown hairs (or something like that) all the time. Some have gotten pretty large and we were worried they might be the beginning of a tumor, but so far just ingrown hairs.

My lab mix had a MST when she was about 2. We took her to MASH for the surgery. could not say enough good things about her treatment there. We had her another 9 years after that before we lost her to complications from diabetes. She did great and had no recurrence. Hope its just a fatty tumor and nothing more serious!

Tater met Dr. Adam yesterday. Good news is he does not think it's a MCT after doing a core biopsy. He said there is a possibility he missed the core, but he is hoping it is a hysitoma (sp?). I have to keep a watch on it and return if it gets bigger. Hoping it will just go away on it's own.

I really do like him. He's made me feel like my dog is the only dog in the world when he's there, and I'm sure he does that for everyone. Personality goes a LONG way in that business.

Thank you Dr. Adam!
Love,
Tater

The spot does appear to be shrinking, so excellent news. I'll keep an eye on it, but so far so good!

Don't they look so innocent? How do you get them to stay still long enough to get good pictures?

Thank you. He is a handsome guy, just a typical hyper boxer that drives me insane :roflmao: He walks on the top of my feet as much as I walk on the bottom.
