In My Opinion

Who, me? The 17 year old has a part-time job and the 15 year old doesn't.
The 17 year old is showing signs of responsibility.
15 is too young to have a job, so the fact that he/she is on mommafare is to be considered normal at this point.
odds are that if you raised the 17 year old to be responsible, then the 15 year old will act close to the same manner when he/she reaches the same age.

good job.

We've had our trials with the 17 year old, make no mistake. I hope with all my heart that the 15 year old doesn't act like that when she reaches the same age. My old heart can't take anymore.

Looking back, the only real mistake we made with the 17 year old is we trusted her too much and she didn't have the supervision she should have (going back to the teen sex party thread).

But that's neither here nor there. People make mistakes. And sometimes they weren't raised any better - that's not their fault. There is a mechanism in this country to give them a second chance, and it sounds like Jaded's friend is taking that opportunity. What's wrong with that?

You know, it's real easy to say, "She SHOULD have..." after the fact.

Well, she DIDN'T. So now what?

This is what our welfare system is *for* - to help people better their lives. It sounds to me like Jaded's friend is using her welfare check for what it's intended - going to school to better her job prospects so she can be self-supporting.

I have no problem with this and I think Jaded is just being a beyotch and should mind her own damn business.
:yeahthat: It would be worse if instead of going to school to boost their earning power, they were sitting at home and hitting QVC for the Elvis collector plate from Franklin mint.

If someone is going through the trouble to go to school, it is a step to get off welfare. Who's to say they are forbidden from enjoying an adult beverage now and then.

:yeahthat: If someone is taking the opportunity to improve their lives, does that mean they have to sit at home every moment they aren't in school? If I had kids and a friend offered to watch them for me so I could have a night out, would that make me bad? Please! We don't have the full story here, just one person passing moral judgement on a "friend" out of jealousy is sounds like and ya'll are jumping on the bandwagon.

Well said Vrai. Once again she has spoken out of turn, 99% of it lies and started this thread just to hurt someone else. I can't believe no one has figured out who 'Jaded' really is......

Hey! You can! Quit your job, pop out a few children, then trot your butt right down to the local welfare office. It's open to everyone. :yay:

I'm not "free" like that. I'm too anal retentive. That's really why I am jealous. I wish I could let go of convention and do my own thing.

However, in regards to children, I'd rather just get my dawg a social security number and claim him on my taxes...I'm a lot like Miss Prissy who hysterically screamed, "But I don’t know nothing about birthin’ no babies!"
