What Is Mormonism? A Baptist Answer

I'm defending what OTHERS believe.. and don't think one church has the right attitude to be able to espouse hate for others becasue they are WRONG..

I'm not a mormon, I'm not jewish, I'm not Seventh Day, nor am I a Scientologist.. but even if i think they are WRONG I believe they have the right to go to any church they decide on. Just like I believe a Baptist should be allowed to go to their church, in peace, quiet and security.. without anyone going out of their way to discredit their beiliefs, or "picket" them because of their beliefs..

You have no idea what I believe or don't believe so don't pass judgement.. oh wait, you already do that to a good portion of the population without meeting them, why should I be different.

I don't go to ANY church, I don't believe in organized religion, but to take part in ACTIVELY trying to discredit people that don't believe what you believe?? Yeah, no chance of ever seeing me in that church..

I take it Westboro just took the teaching of the Baptist Church to the next level? Or do they just take what they are taught to the public?
All churches take it "to the public".... It's called "apologetics" defending faith.

You defend nothing but arguing about everything.

As to judgmental... anyone who has signed on to this site becomes judgmental to someone for saying what they believe... that applies to you to. Belief is not universal, therefore we have debates and arguments. Why can't you see that? Why because you or I believe something it becomes hate to others? I'm not stopping you or anyone else from believing what they want... it is called defending the faith. It has been around for quite sometime.

I just hope people that go to this church actually research what has been said, and see for themselves what their church stands for .. and look in the mirror and say.. OMG, what the Hell am I apart of, what have I become??

This is NOT how a Christian should act.. at least all the Sunday School lessons I've had in my lifetime, this is not what was taught.

But the Baptist church isn't defending their church or their beliefs.. they are discrediting and belittling OTHER churches and their members...

Have you EVER been to a (Baptist) church gathering where another church was picketing and handing out flyers because you didn't believe what they believed??

You who don't go to church can say that? Interesting.

Southern Baptist are the second largest in the world... doubt many agree with you my friend. But, hey... all I pray is people worship the one true God in Jesus Christ. Baptist... Catholic.. Methodist... as long as we remain in One Spirit.

Do you practice what was taught in Sunday School???? That would be from organized religion and would violate way too many messages you have sent our way. Hope that was not what you were implying. I believe you don't like what has been "piped" down people's throat from the leaders.

To be taught means you learn... to learn means you act out what you were taught. To disregard/ignore/reject means you take part in nothing that was taught. (Including how organized religion says to act.)

An Iowa Christian group is circulating flyers at today's straw poll urging people not to vote for Mitt Romney, the strong favorite in today's straw poll, because he is a Mormon. "we strongly believe that Jesus Christ, if he were alive in the flesh in this time and voted, would NEVER vote for Mitt Romney under any circumstances," the flyer says. "Mitt Romney represents Mormonism which is counterfeit Christianity, a cult." The flyer goes on to cite a list of reasons as to why Christians should not pick a Mormon for president.

"Negative attacks are commonplace in the political arena," said Peter Flaherty, Romney's point man for conservative outreach. "But there should be no place for religious bigotry."

A little more hate from our friendly Baptists..

Defending the faith because others have said they are the same.... Defending the faith because others have said what is taught is not true.

Yes... and I also have friends that have experienced it. It never deterred us or stopped us from worshipping God in the name of Jesus Christ. Nor did it stop the apostles who were constantly persecuted to the point of death. God's kingdom just keeps growing in spite of futile man. Why? Because He desires all to know of His salvation.

Or a little more expression of freedom we have by God's grace.

Why be so selective in the "We're right, you're wrong" speeches and articles.. Why not point out the Jews.. and the Muslims.. and the Buddhists..
Can't they not point themselves out? Why do they need me pointing them out. All the groups you listed do not claim to have like doctrine.

Apparently this church goes after EVERYONE that is of a different belief NOT just those that have "like doctrine"

Specifically, Rev. Wiley Drake of the First Southern Baptist Church of Buena Park, Calif., is asking his supporters to use "imprecatory prayer" to curse Americans United and its leaders. The argument centers on whether Drake violated federal tax law by "electioneering" when he recently endorsed the presidential candidacy of Republican Mike Huckabee. Americans United on Tuesday asked the Internal Revenue Service to investigate. Today, Drake told us by telephone that he has called for prayers aimed at smiting the AU and its leadership

AU, meanwhile, today issued a statement that condemns "the tactics of a political pastor in California who has urged followers to pray for the demise of staff members of the religious liberty watchdog group."

WOW, I guess they hate EVERYONE regardless of religous affiliation..

I don't even know Dan Quayles religous affiliation..

So i wouldn't know about anyone making fun of him for it.. there were way too many other reasons to make fun of him.

and what religion were those protesters?
not Southern Baptists... although not all Southern Baptist voted for their "own."

If you asking if they are mormons or such... don't know. Not sure that matters. Baptists have never claimed to be like mormons... Mormons, on the other hand, have claimed to be like Baptists. And so, the "apologetics" commence.

I.E. No, this is who we really are....

Exactly... but in your Ivory Tower you say things against baptists. Is that your form of hate? Making fun at the expense of others... oh, that's right you didn't believe anything you were taught in Sunday School. So, must be a non-religious pattern.

If I reverse back your question to you... then by your own question you "obviously know..." more than this person. Your arrogance speaks loudly, for you obviously know we are wrong and you are right.

Could you tell us what is "right" in your opinion without refering to religion, god, or gods... just simply tell us by a non-religious answer why you must be right and all others wrong.... or at least tell us without any religion (for you have none according to you) why you are right and no one else is?

i've given you plenty, but you can keep ignoring them if you want.....

besides, i haven't come on here calling yours or anyone elses religion or religious beliefs a cult.

I feel we all have the right to believe how we want, and that since no one knows- because humans can't- it is hateful and arrogant to assume that yours is the only path to god. Especially if to make these claims you call another's beliefs cultish.

I haven't said anything against the Baptist beliefs. or their religion.. just their extracuricular activities..

And that I think ALL organized religion is based on fiction.. just all the others seem to practice what they preach much better than the Baptists do..

i was asking because i thought you had a point, i was wrong, you were just putting something out there to confuse the debate.
