dustin said:you stated your belief that speeding causes accidents.
in and of itself speeding does not cause accidents. like OZ said other factors allow the accident to happen.
i'm not argueing wether or not a cop should be allowed to speed.
but just because excessive speeding is against the law does deem it a cause of accidents.
I speed ALL the time. You probably do to. Going one MPH over the speed limit is a violation of the law. Therefore you would be speeding just like the rest of us and according to your theory, you would have caused a bunch of accidents by now.
BuddyLee said:Speeding is probably one cause of accidents but not the single cause. There are many variables that could certainly cause an accident. However, in most cases the slower you are going the more time you will have to react (braking). The faster you go the slower your reaction time.

I guess the whole point I was trying to make and obviously didn't do a good job...is that it's against the law. And if I am going to get a ticket for speeding then these cops who find it necessary to do the same should also get a ticket. But it's a lost cause...so I'll just stay here in Florida where I am still allowed to drive. At least for the time being.![]()
BuddyLee said:I don't see a problem with the fuzz speeding if they're doing their job. If they're just lolly gagging and speeding around just for the heck of it then they should be dealt with by a higher ranking officer. $hit rolls down hill.
Arcane360 said:I have had cops pull up behind me, flash their lights, and make me pull over. Well its the law to pull over, but anyways. After the cop pulls past me, he/she shuts their lights off! Continues drving on! Probably speeding, otherwise he could wait since its not an emergency situation. Also if they dont have their lights flashing because they dont want to be noticed, then dont speed either. Lights = emergency situation. Plain and simple. Also cops have quotas for speeding tickets, which gets me angry.....
The speed limits on the roads, really need to be revamped, because it seems they are using rules from the 50's, and cars of today handle a lot better now then the cars of the 50's. I will shut up now...![]()
There is an emergency vehicle operations course that all Maryland Certified Police Officers are required to pass. The officers may not have been following the practices they learned, however we are trained to handle vehicles at high speeds. I hope this answers your question.Petter Solberg said:You obviously don't understand the question. My question is:
What level of high performance driving instruction do local police officers have? By what I witnessed yesterday, I would say they have had no instruction. I am hoping that a Police Officer roaming these boards can answer this.

There is a big difference between getting a free brake job because your a mechanic and being able to speed because your a cop. Speeding is DANGEROUS! Speeding causes accidents!![]()
