That was one of our songs....our first dance was "Could Not Ask For More" by Edwin McCain.

I danced with my dad to "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong....that song just reminded me of him, he loves that song.
I'm getting married June 15 next year.."Could not ask for more" will be our first dance

Walking up the aisle - Dan Fogelberg's "Longer"
Walking back down the aisle together - The Carpenters "We've Only Just Begun"
First dance - Patsy Cline "Always"

And yes I realize I'm old - it was a 1986 wedding.

I Need a Beer
At my sister's wedding their first song was AC/DC You Shook Me All Night Long

She was a fast machine,She kept her motor clean,She
was the best damn woman that I ever seen,She had
sightless eyes,Telling me no lies,Knockin' me
out with those American thighs,Taking more than her
share,Had me fighting for air,She told me to come,
but I was already there,'Cause the walls
started shaking,The earth was quaking,My mind was
achin',And we were makin' it and you...Shook me all night long,Yeah you, shook me all night
long.Walking double time on the seduction line,She was one of a kind,She's just mine all mine,Wanted no applause,It's just another
cause,Made a meal out of me, and come back for more,Tried to cool me down,To take another round,Now I'm back in the ring to take another swing,But the walls were shaking,The earth was quaking,My mind was aching,And we were making it and you...Shook me all night long,Yeah you, shook me all
night long,Knocked me out, I said youShook me all
night long,Had me shaking and you,Shook me all night
long,Had me shaking,Well you shook me...You really shook me and YOU!Shook me all night long,Aaaaahaaaahaaaah You...Shook me all night long,Yeah yeah you,Shook me all night long,You really
got me and you,Shook me all night long,Yeah you
shook me,Yeah you shook me,All night long.

I Need a Beer
Our first dance was Michael Bolton's "Now that I've found you"

I can still remember
When all I had was time
A time when I had nothin'
But this empty heart of mine
When I needed inspiration
When the night was all I knew
You were the light shinin' into my life
The reason for all the love I'm feelin'

[Chorus:]
Now that I've found you
I don't know how I lived without you
I don't know how I survived without your love
Now that I've found you
I only know I'd be lost without you
I found the love
That I'll never find again
'Cause all I ever needed
And all I ever wanted
Has come true
I found it all now that I've found you

I could've searched forever
And never realized
The treasure of a lifetime
Was the love inside your eyes
When I reach for inspiration
In your touch, it's always there
Givin' me faith every step of the way
Givin' me all I ever needed

[Chorus]

And every step of the way
Gonna dedicate my heart to you
Promise you my world forever
Pledgin' my love my whole life through

If you aren't already married what will be your Wedding song?

The man and I were just watching some show on VH1 about 80's songs... They declared the #1 song of the 80's as, "Living on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi. Wouldn't that be an awesome wedding song?

Mine was "From This Moment On" by Shania Twain. But the "moment" only lasted four years. I'm divorced. :lmao:

My father and I will be dancing to "Little Miss Magic" By Jimmy Buffet.
Still having trouble choosing what songs to walk up and down the isle to. Any suggests would be greatly appreciated. Also still need a Wedding Party song. Thanks!

...however, when we were announced at the reception, the background music was "Going the Distance" by Cake (racing fan...)

I can't decide...

which one I want for the father/daughter song.

You'll Always Be My Baby
(Sara Evans)

There I was
Ten years old
Waiting in my room for him to come home
And I just knew
He'd be so mad
Though I begged my mother not to,
she told my dad
There was no denying I had let him down
But instead of being angry he put his arms
around me
And said

Chorus:
In the sunlight or the rain
Brightest nights or darkest days
I'll always feel the same way
Whatever road you may be on
Know you're never too far-gone
My love is there wherever you may be
Just remember that you'll always be my baby

There I was
Twenty-one
I was so ashamed of what I'd done
On a country road
Parked one night
What started out so innocent crossed the line
There was no denying I had let God down
But instead of being angry
He let his love surround me and I heard

Repeat Chorus

There he is
My little man
I'm sure he'll get in trouble every
now and then
And I pray to God
That when he does
I'll be just as understanding as my father was
‘Cause the last thing that I wanna do is let him down
So instead of being angry I'm gonna throw
my arms around him and I'll say

Repeat Chorus

OR

My Wish - Rascal Flatts

I hope that the days come easy and the moments pass slow,
And each road leads you where you want to go,
And if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose,
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.
And if one door opens to another door closed,
I hope you keep on walkin' till you find the window,
If it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile,

But more than anything, more than anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.

I hope you never look back, but ya never forget,
All the ones who love you, in the place you left,
I hope you always forgive, and you never regret,
And you help somebody every chance you get,
Oh, you find God's grace, in every mistake,
And you always give more than you take.

But more than anything, yeah, and more than anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.

This is my wish
I hope you know somebody loves you
May all your dreams stay big

Which one does your Dad like more?

Do you want the father/daughter dance to reflect his thoughts to you or yours to him? Both of the songs above would be his to you. Another poster mentioned "Wind Beneath My Wings" which is more their dedication to their dad.

I never had to make the decision. Dad said he wasn't dancing - he was never a dancer. He thought wearing the tux was punishment enough.

My Sweetest Boy
Since Ott and I had our reception at our home, we didn't have a first dance. But, back in the day, this was our song.

This thing called love I just can't handle it
This thing called love I must get round to it
I ain't ready
Crazy little thing called love

This thing (this thing) called love (called love)
It cries (like a baby)
In a cradle all night
It swings (woooh woooh)
It jives (woooh woooh)
It shakes all over like a jelly fish
I kind of like it
Crazy little thing called love

There goes my baby
She knows how to Rock'n'Roll
She drives my crazy
She gives me hot and cold fever
Then she leaves me in a cool cool sweat

I gotta be cool relax get hip!
Get on my track's
Take a back seat
Hitch hike
And take a long ride on my motor bike
Until I'm ready
Crazy little thing called love

I gotta be cool relax get hip!
Get on my track's
Take a back seat
Hitch hike
And take a long ride on my motor bike
Until I'm ready (ready Freddie)
Crazy little thing called love

This thing called love I just can't handle it
This thing called love I must get round to it
I ain't ready
Crazy little thing called love...

I'm sure he doesn't know either as he doesn't listen to country music. Both are reflective of our relationship and how he treats me. I'm leaning more towards the first because it's very true to life. I had considered picking a song that reflects my feelings towards him it would be "The Greatest Man I Never Knew" By Reba and I'd cry. I think we've told each other twice that we love each other. But then I'd be all crying on the dance floor and there's no way I'm letting that happen. Plus it reminds me of my grandfather. I was always a daddy's girl but we were buddies not big on sharing our feelings.

The greatest man I never knew lived just down the hall
And everyday we said hello
But never touched at all
He was in his paper
I was in my room
How was I to know he thought I hung the moon

The greatest man I never knew came home late every night
He never had too much to say
Too much was on his mind
I never really knew him
And now it seems so sad
Everything he gave to us took all he had

Then the days turned into years
And the memories to black and white
He grew cold like an old winter wind blowing across my life

The greatest words I never heard I guess I'll never hear
The man I thought would never die has 'been dead almost a year
He was good at business
But there was business left to do
He never said he loved me
Guess he thought I knew

I just can't subject myself to that on my wedding day. I can't hear it on the radio without getting teary eyed.
