Nevermind. I have said The End twice. Yet, you keep on.

Out of principle there are no knives in our house other than steak and butter knives. Out of principle my kids will not be given knives.
so you dont have any knives for cooking? :bs:

C_Jo carries one all the time. It comes in handy all the time. As far as I know, he has never stabbed anyone.
Same with Larry. Whenever I need to open a box or cut a string off my clothes, he pulls out the handy dandy pocket knife. :yay:

I'm not a huge fan of zero-tolerance policies and these pocket knife stories are just absurd. Back when I was in school I'll bet every guy carried a pocket knife and, to my knowledge, they were never used in a fight. Guys with perfectly good knives in their pocket would pummel each other senseless like God intended for man to do. :yay:

Why do we care whether Socki lets her kids handle knives or not?
Because her son is going to grow up feeling disfuntional around knives and could very well one day end up in the bell tower chucking Bowie knives at pedestrians down below...:frown:

it started out with her supporting the school's zero tolerance policy, and saying the kids was stupid for bringing a weapon to school. What her kids do or don't do have no impact on my life, but her way of thinking, and others like her, will try to change the rules to what they find acceptable, and that will affect my life.

Her "No guns, no knives."... Imagine that on a public scale, I can see her and Mikulski trying to come up with ideas to legislate ownership of a pocketknife. It's an inate fear of something they know nothing about, but since they've been told it's dangerous, then by god, it's dangerous!!

Neither of my parents grew up around knives or guns. Neither grew up to be disfunctional. I'll make sure to tell my father with a Masters degree that the somd.com forum disagrees with his upbringing. While I'm at it, I'll tell my mother who works for the US Courts the same thing.

Don't worry Socki. With all of the other issues your kids have to deal with, your irrational fear of knives will be the least of their worries.

Ahh, I see.

He's right, Socki - by you being a knife/gun/whatever kook, it only encourages the nutties in Annapolis to restrict all of our rights, and that's a bad thing.

Brought a pocket knife to school.

Honor roll student. Boy scout. Never got in trouble before. He is suspended for 10 days pending the hearing. So that means he will miss the first 6 days of 9th grade at the very best.

I just read that story. What a shame. Hope everything works out for you.
