Valid point. Now what does that have to do with attacking somebody for posting a policy question that was also valid?

Again, blind support of the uniform is JUST AS BAD as unjustified critiscism of law enforcement officials.

Watch out for Willie, he'll construe that as bashing police

POINT IS " IT IS A JOB THAT SOMEONE HAS TO DO". YOU JUST DON'T HAVE THE BALLS IT TAKES. YOU WOULD RATHER COMPLAIN.

WHEN SOMEONE BREAKES IN TO YOUR HOUSE, HITS YOUR CAR, SELLS DRUGS TO YOUR CHILDERN, JUST WITF DO YOU CALL????

YES, ALL CAPS, I AM SCREAMING. TO GET THROUGH YOU THICK SKULL.

I almost replied in kind! :lmao: But I will keep it polite.

I do have a teensy weensy bit of experience in law enforcement. I have two citations, and the scars that go with them. Both were earned overseas under far worse conditions that will be found here in the states.

You know what they say about ASSumptions. :huggy:

I would answer your question but I get the idea you aren't actually interested in a civil conversation.

He wasn't just posting a policy question. He was also biatching that he, as a taxpayer, is paying for the gas in these cop cars when they're being used off-duty, etc.

HERE, I WILL POST WHAT YOU PULLED. IT GOT EMAILED TO ME. TO LATE TO COVER YOUR AZZ.
I just love when people make ASSumptions.

Personal attacks? OK

I dont know a single officer who toots their horn like you are right now. That's why we kept badge bunnies around. Granted my experience is now ten years in the past, but I'm pretty sure badge bunnies are still used in the same fashion they were back then. :lmao:

VD SCARS AND PRESCRIPTIONS?

WHY WOULD THEY TO THE LIKES OF YOU.

I AM NOT A BADGE BUNNY, HOLSTER SNIFFER OR ANY OF THE OTHER CUTE TAGS YOU CAN COME UP WITH.

I HAVE A GREAT RESPCT FOR THE LAW. YOU DON'T SEEM TO.
WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO HIDE?

How much jurisdiction does a base cop (thinking specifically from Webster's Field) have off base?

It's what some people do.

And the funny thing is, typically these types have the word "happy" or "smile" in their user name.

Go figure.

Perhaps I am over reacting but I would like to have some clarification on the uses of patrol cars that are assigned to officers - who are not on duty. I understand that I do not know the complete story of things so I am more than willing to give benefit of doubt. Yesterday I was at the World Gym in Leonardtown and just as I am getting out of my vehicle (going in the gym myslef), a patrol car pulls up and parks as well. Out comes an officer in wind pants and t-shirt. It appeared that he was going to the gym. Soon enough, as I walked out of the locker room - there he was - working out.

Now, my issue is not whether this officer needs to be in the gym (as it looked as if he really did), but rather the county tax dollars that pay for the operation of patrol cars. These cars, I do not believe, should not be used for personal reasons – ONLY official business. Is it permissible for officers to use their cars for their own personal use? This officer had no form of paging device or of any sort; much less a radio - so I am inclined to believe he was not on duty at the time.

Where can one go to obtain a copy of the regulations that dictate an officer’s responsibilities to the property they are assigned.

Again, as I said before – I only see one side of this coin….so any clarification that can be offered is appreciated. I just dont want to have a misunderstanding of things.

With use of the police car, you must have your gun and badge on you at all times. Local police are encouraged to do this for visibility reasons. But again, even off duty, they are expected to respond to anything in the area they are close to, and most of them do. It is a perk for them to have free use and gas for the car, but most of the time that means working even off duty if the need warrants. My hubby is federal, but still is supposed to carry both badge and gun, in order to respond if the local store we are shopping at gets robbed. That kind of sucks, also, but it came in handy one time we were almost carjacked.

It is my understanding that they, like those at Pax, are Federal Law Enforcement Officers with full jurisdiction.
