all i have to say is that "teens" these days are doing nothing diffrent then you "more sensible adults" were doin in the 70's and 80's with muscle cars. I think that everyone is mad about radar detectors because yall didnt have them back in the day. when yall were younger you did street race you had loud motors and slicks. we got loud steros rims, and speed. and dont cmplaian about the bass either, unless your old charger ar olds 442 were wisper quiet!

Yeah, I fit into that category of having a loud car, it was jacked up in the rear and had the big tires. We'd all go to Shopper's World and drive around in circles...

What's your point???

Anyone of us stood the chance or getting a ticket for the rear bumper being too high, or tires being too wide...., but we were'nt out on the streets driving like a bunch of a$$es and killing ourselves or others. Times have chaged (better or worse), they've changed and I don't see them going back to the good 'ole days. Just about everyday there's a car with a teenager wrapping themselves around a pole or driving head long into another car. Can't say that I remember hearing too much of that back when I was in high school. And when you're going all of five miles an hour in the parking lot of Shoppers World you don't really stand much of killing anything, except maybe a tank of gas....

i do have an education we all have type-o's get over it. and the only reason that you hear about teens gettin in accidents more often is because it makes better media. If you look into national stats. then you will see that more teens are INVOLVED in automobile crashes then any other age group. NOT AT FAULT!!! AND MY POINT IS that you cant say that parents are bad for letting thier kids have radar detectors, hell most of them are designed for allerting people when there is a danger ahead or when approchind an emergancy vehicle. ALSO>>>> a good majority of people would leave "SHOPPERS WORLD" and go down to ridge and race on the long stretch there. simply my point being that we "KIDS" do nothing diffrent than you "ADULTS" used to do. i know that there is a big problem with street racing, in my oppinion take it to the track where it is safe. one more thing, i rember tales of older folks i work with telling about a road sighn somewhere along rt. 235 where they would post (write in marker on the back) top speeds of cars.

No, YOU get over it, kid. We were here first. This is OUR world, and you should feel honored to be allowed to participate in it. Learning to spell is like learning how to behave well in the presence of adults - it's challenging but it's expected of you. So learn to spell and practice it a LOT - especially in an on-line setting where you should avoid making yourself look like an ignoramus. And you do LOTS of things differently than we did - most of them are things that we did right and you do wrong. More teens are involved in accidents than any others because they put themselves in harm's way by either not paying attention or breaking the law - and if the cops can't prove the teen was at fault, the stats will only show the teen was "involved." But even you have sense enough to realize that when a disproportionate number of teens is involved in accidents, that group is obviously doing something to make them part of the accident, or not doing something to avoid it. Either way, that's a function of not being a safe driver. OBTW - compare decibel levels of an Olds 442 to your ghetto thumper, and you'll find out that there's a huge difference in sound level. Of course, if you keep bashing your eardrums in with that piece of garbage in your vehicle, a drag racer with straight pipes will be "whisper quiet."

They call me ... Sarcasmo
There were a lot less distractions and development "back in the day" also you could get away with more stuff. If the "Shoppers World" you are talking about is the one in Waldorf, I don't think too many people drove from there to Ridge just to race. That is a bit of a hike when you are only getting 10-14 mpg.

His point was that things were a lot different then, commonsense factors - oh, sorry, I forgot, you don't do commonsense. Little Stevie, you have 120 dB's of brain damage if you think the 442 is louder than the piece of garbage you have in your vehicle. And if "most of us" had done the same things years ago, that would have been quite a stretch and a lot of us wouldn't be alive to tell about it.

And learn to spell and punctuate if you want to play with the big boys.:loser: :duh: :shortbus: Get the picture?

i can understand where he is coming from; we all did stupid stuff, but we learn from our mistakes. BTW my charger will drown out any GHETTO tunes he can play.

i hate to say this but as times change technology, culture, and styles change. as steve said yall had big blocks and 8 tracks. u had fun with what you have. now its our turn to make noise and have fun. why u go on bashing audio systems or "ghetto thumpers" as you call them i have no idea. i know many over 30 ppl with systems in their cars. o and just because some teens wrap themselves around poles doesnt mean we are all stupid. and one more thing. RAILROAD if your gonna bash someone for making a typo please make sure you dont have any you don't do commonsense. IF im correct which ive asked a few ppl so i believe i am... common sense is 2 words not one.

Simple: because your rights end where my ears begin. If you want to make yourself deaf in the name of "cool", be my guest. But you have no right to inflict that on me.

LOL Cletus you must have been one of the only ones that just cruised shoppers world because I hung out with my brothers back then and it was a staging area for racing down the back roads. Hell in highschool we used to leave the track and head to 210 and race down 210 by the Beretta factory all the time. There are two reasons you see and hear more about kids and accidents. Internet and Television focuses on them more and gives more coverage then years ago. 2 there are alot more young drivers on the roads these days.

Now for the Radar Detector thing.. I had my dads radar detector 4-5 months after starting to drive because his ass went out and got a newer one LOL. I do think parents should be more involved with their kids and their driving habits. I know my dad was big time and helped me enjoy my car hobby and told me of everything he did as a kid and was stern with me about not making the same mistakes but was also lenient on me because he was involved with what I was doing with my cars.

I agree that kids don't really need radar detectors, but in my opinion the most irresponsible parents are the ones that allow an inexperienced kid to own/drive a "fast" car. As mentioned earlier in this thread, cars have become very fast compared to cars of the 60's - 70's. Unfortunately driver training and junior driver’s ability apparently haven’t improved. Driver training should be improved and parents should be greatly involved in the training.

well until there is a law stating that "ghetto thumpers" are illegal entirely i guess you will just have to deal. or you can do this :lalala:
Well, guess what you can do? :huggy:

There are noise laws up here - don't know if it's a state or just local thing but kids get pulled over all the time and ticketed if their car is too loud or their radio is blasting away.
