Ass-hole
duck has unlimited duck food - so that should help .... not like I can give it one of my RX Vit D capsules ......
If you have an eagle or a hawk, you could feed the duck to them.

grrrr
Does it quack like the AFLAC duck or more low pitch honk?
So far no sounds.
PS - I should also add that the duck was kept in a dog crate for 7 months pretty much 24/7.
This pretty much breaks my heart.
I love our ducks, and love that they are so protective of each other. They really are social critters, and enjoy being the one half of a pair of birds.
Our ducks have the run if the place, scouting out bugs and greenery, and they get to play on their pool all day long. And if they think you have a tasty treat for them, they will be your very best friend....until the food is gone.
Oops, just saw the update on the JRT. I was going to complain about not seeing anything. It's easier to see if one looks a little bit.
Milo (Lenny's little brother by adoption) had integration problems. He was very slow to adapt and didn't get along well with any other animal - dog or cat, made no difference. It took a lot of time and patience - on the order of a year or so - to get him close to normal. I think Jack Russells (because Lenny has some slight tendencies that way as well) like to be the "only child" in a home pet situation. JMHO.
Having had time to watch her behavior, Lacey is not interested in playing with Boxy (Boxer Mix), and she snaps at him if he tries to play with her. All she wants is human attention. She has a big attitude for a little dog and eats his food also. I didn't expect Boxy to give in to another dog like that. The prior Jack we had named Bella had hours of fun playing with Boxy.
Enough about the dog, how's the duck doing?
Interestingly after only a few weeks of unlimited food/water, this duck must be feeling better, I out her in the baby pool, she promptly pooped in it, then drank some of the water EWWWW then hopped out and started to run away ..... wow - before she couldn't walk well enough to go far, so now we have to stay close to catch her if she tries to run off lol. She is obviously feeling better.
Hopefully today or tomorrow we can fill the baby pool to the top, then supervise to see if she knows how to paddle at all. If she does, I'll move the baby pool into her enclosure for her to practice.
How many ducks do you have now? What size is your pond?
We have 4, and use a kiddy swimming pool for them.
They really just need enough to get their heads under, but it's just deep enough our full grown Pekins can get their entire body underwater.
Have actually seen the baby Khakis swim under the water along the bottom of the pool, but they rarely do it.
What will you do in the Winter? Speaking of, I guess many ponds also would freeze depending on the temperatures. I've been stabbed by her pointed toenails a few times also, it's little but it hurts. I've been calling the duck a "she" after a duck-lady I know said in the picture she looks like a female.

Doesn't get cold enough around here (usually) to really worry about it.. If it gets TOO cold I'll empty the pool at night and refill during the warm of the day.
I BELIEVE they can go without swimming/dunking water if they have enough to drink.. they're just happier when they can swim.
