Another Jack Russell coming?

The JRT girl weighs 11 lbs and is a happy people-oriented baby that likes to walk or be held. She has no interest in playing with other dogs. She becomes very bonded with her human and want to be with them.

Lacey's predatory side comes out when she sees the chickens. I acclimated her to the horses already but fowl? Nah she wants to eat them lol. She has the typical small dog interest in being carried like a baby.

Lacey is sweet, does not bite, is housebroken, likes other animals including dogs but doesn't play with them. Lacey attaches herself to humans very easily, and if you let her off-lead she doesn't seem to stray too far.

Lacey's prey drive is intact and she goes after my chickens, but that can be trained out I believe. Number 1 in Lacey's life is her human.

Lacey the JRT, Clinton the Pitt Bull, and the duck all came from a family with children that became homeless. All of these critters are people oriented and good with children.

After she got whacked on the nose by Foxy, she stopped chasing him <biggrin>, however chickens can't really fight back, I get it.

Lacey is beautiful.

I love JRT's and feists because their prey instinct makes them intense little dogs. They've got smart, laser like attention. I'm with ICit on this - this is the kind of dog you get if you don't intend to have guinea pigs or rodents, etc as pets. It'd be like getting a Lab and then trying to teach them not to swim or retrieve.

Yes on the prey drive, and she is SMART. The horse lady I introduced her to (has had JRT's) said Lacey is a petite JRT at 11 lbs, and she has unusual markings on her side that look like airbrushed tan fur which makes her very unique.

Hopefully we will find her a good home soon. She is sad because she doesn't get much human time with us since we are so busy. I hear her whimper, and I feel bad, but until I find her a home, there's not much I can do.

We are still looking for a home for Lacey the Jack Russell. Lacey has been doing well at learning to stop barking when told to stop. I am very proud of how well she is learning to stop barking when she sees the deer in the field LOL. She weighs all of 11 pounds but you'd think she was a 100 lb dog with how she barks to tell those deer to go away LOL.

Lacey gets along with other dogs, cats, but her main obsession is her human. She desperately wants to be with her human more than anything. She must feel so neglected as I rarely ever sit down for her to hop into my lap. I try to walk her a few times a day to give her some one-on-one time, but I can tell she's longing to have her own human to love.

Lacey sounds a lot like my previous dog, Snoopy. She didn't play much, but she was the best companion - her job was keeping track of everyone, and letting each of us know where everyone else was. I still miss Snoopy every day, as she was beside me every minute that I was at home. JRT's are so smart and alert, they just exude energy in every muscle. We're now a 2 chihuahua family, and regretfully that's our limit - sounds like whoever adopts Lacey will be very lucky!

I got a call from the lady at the bakery to say she knows of a retired man who may be interested. That would be just PERFECT for Lacey since she ideally wants to be with her human every minute LOL. Thankfully she doesn't have separation anxiety. Unlike MY DOG, she doesn't feel the need to tear up anything. I hope to hear from the guy this week.

We really have to get some of these cats into adoptive homes, or foster homes. We are in over our heads! Naturally we assumed that being KITTENS ... they would get adopted quickly. That hasn't been the case at all. We adopted out a few since last Spring but we still have 9 kittens left.

We keep getting desperate calls from people wanting to give up their critters. Saying they don't want the shelter alternative because they want their pets to live. One lady said she has 3 kids, 1 dog and 4 cats and she can't handle it all anymore. Sheesh she doesn't work a FT job like I do so she doesn't REALLY know what being overwhelmed is lol. I told her I am caring for 13 available for adoption cats/kittens and working a FT job, plus all my other critters. I can NOT take on her cats because she feels overwhelmed, I AM OVERWHELMED! LOL

Unfortunately, this is the time of year where people are thinking about the Holidays, and traveling. I hope that I'm wrong, and that all the Kitties, and Lacey find their homes for the Holiday.

I will be trying to find foster homes for a few of them to lighten our load. Taking care of so many kitties isn't easy. I try to give each one some one-on-one personal time every day. I can't take in another kitty, period. I feel bad telling people I can't help them. I envision the critter being terrified at the shelter and how the critter may end up dead. I feel personally responsible for that critter because we were not able to help.

I know my heart is in the right place, but this year I went over the edge, beyond where I've ever been before with regard to how many cases we have.

Hmm the holidays should make the boarding places a good bit of money?

This cute little 11 lb Jack Russell girl is a darling. She likes to cuddle with her human. She does well when left alone so no bad habits to speak of. We are hoping she will be in her new home for the holidays. You can do a trial with her to see if it works out.

Look at post 42. I think the top picture is the one of the JRT. I hope your Friend just loves her so much that s/he can't resist!!

Compared the the prior JRT we had named Bella, Lacey is a total opposite in terms of personality. Bella was a typical bouncing-off-the-walls JRT, while Lacey is a couch potato when you want to sit still (she'll sit next to you or on your lap), yet she can out-walk you if you want to take her for a stroll. Can't ask for a better companion than Lacy.
