Boy Scouts and Gay Rights Again.........

In My Opinion
they cant really be saying that boys who might be a little swishy cant join can they? Just that they dont want queers as leaders, right?
Actually, I dont think they are real big on the gay boys joining either.

unless those gay boys are willing to admit their faults and lead a christian life

they are not welcome by the boyscouts, they do not fit the guidlines of the boyscouts.

From the "Boy Scout Joining Requirements"

1: Meet age requirements: Be a boy who has completed the fifth grade and be at least 10 years old, or be 11 years old, or have earned the Arrow of Light Award and be at least 10 years old, and be under 18 years old.
2: Complete a Boy Scout application and health history signed by your parent or guardian.
3: Find a Scout troop near your home. (To find a troop, contact your local Boy Scout Council. The Council name, address and phone number can be found on BSA's Council Locator Page.)
4: Repeat the Pledge of Allegiance.
5: Demonstrate the Scout sign, salute, and handshake.
6: Demonstrate tying the square knot (a joining knot).
7: Understand and agree to live by the Scout Oath or Promise, Law, motto, and slogan, and the Outdoor Code.
8: Describe the Scout badge.
9: Complete the Pamphlet Exercises. With your parent or guardian, complete the exercises in the pamphlet "How to Protect Your Children from Child Abuse: A Parent's Guide".
10: Participate in a Scoutmaster conference. Turn in your Boy Scout application and health history form signed by your parent or guardian, then participate in a Scoutmaster conference.

That is every requirement required to join.

Now explain to me why a homosexual can not meet those requirements.

Boy Scout Oath, Law, Motto, and Slogan

Scout Oath (or Promise)

<DL><DD>On my honor I will do my best <DD>To do my duty to God and my country <DD>and to obey the Scout Law; <DD>To help other people at all times; <DD>To keep myself physically strong, <DD>mentally awake, and morally straight.</DD></DL>

the scouts dont consider homosexuality to be a morally straight way of life.

<H2>Scout Law
<DL><DT>TRUSTWORTHY <DD>A Scout tells the truth. He keeps his promises. Honesty is part of his code of conduct. People can depend on him.</DD></DL><DL><DT>LOYAL <DD>A Scout is true to his family, Scout leaders, friends, school, and nation.</DD></DL><DL><DT>HELPFUL <DD>A Scout is concerned about other people. He does things willingly for others without pay or reward.</DD></DL><DL><DT>FRIENDLY <DD>A Scout is a friend to all. He is a brother to other Scouts. He seeks to understand others. He respects those with ideas and customs other than his own.</DD></DL><DL><DT>COURTEOUS <DD>A Scout is polite to everyone regardless of age or position. He knows good manners make it easier for people to get along together.</DD></DL><DL><DT>KIND <DD>A Scout understands there is strength in being gentle. He treats others as he wants to be treated. He does not hurt or kill harmless things without reason.</DD></DL><DL><DT>OBEDIENT <DD>A Scout follows the rules of his family, school, and troop. He obeys the laws of his community and country. If he thinks these rules and laws are unfair, he tries to have them changed in an orderly manner rather than disobey them.</DD></DL><DL><DT>CHEERFUL <DD>A Scout looks for the bright side of things. He cheerfully does tasks that come his way. He tries to make others happy.</DD></DL><DL><DT>THRIFTY <DD>A Scout works to pay his way and to help others. He saves for unforeseen needs. He protects and conserves natural resources. He carefully uses time and property.</DD></DL><DL><DT>BRAVE <DD>A Scout can face danger even if he is afraid. He has the courage to stand for what he thinks is right even if others laugh at or threaten him.</DD></DL><DL><DT>CLEAN <DD>A Scout keeps his body and mind fit and clean. He goes around with those who believe in living by these same ideals. He helps keep his home and community clean.</DD></DL><DL><DT>REVERENT <DD>A Scout is reverent toward God. He is faithful in his religious duties. He respects the beliefs of others.</DD></DL>
</H2>Reverent toward God, evidently, they consider homosexuality to be not reverent toward God and his laws.

Somehow I dont think that doing a good turn has anything to do with a barrel.

I normally don't give to the the kids outside selling stuff when you leave a store but I did recently when I saw Boy scouts selling popcorn. Even though it was a little expensive I bought that $7 can of popcorn to help support the boy scouts. Who would have ever thought they would have to challenge the gay thing. Boy scouts is a great organization to teach our kids responsibility, values, etc. Give them all the support you can.

I personally don't think the boys are going to jump up and down and tell you they are gay. Most aren't thinking about that a the age of 10. Sure, they should be allowed to join as long as they follow the rules set forth by the organization. If not, join somethng else. I do have a problem with gay adults leading the boy scouts. Why expose our kids to a perverse lifestyle if it can be avoided?

I was counting on that bcp, so I marked this link from the BSA joining requirement site.

Boy Scout Oath

. . . To do my duty to God . . .
Your family and religious leaders teach you about God and the ways you can serve. You do your duty to God by following the wisdom of those teachings every day and by respecting and defending the rights of others to practice their own beliefs.

also, for fun

. . . and morally straight.
To be a person of strong character, your relationships with others should be honest and open. You should respect and defend the rights of all people. Be clean in your speech and actions, and remain faithful in your religious beliefs. The values you practice as a Scout will help you shape a life of virtue and self-reliance.

this is from their site.

edit: you'll note it doesn't specify a religion. As it shouldn't.

It says "He is faithful in his religious duties. He respects the beliefs of others."

it doesn't say he is faithful in MY or the accepted religious beliefs, but in HIS. Makes me think that is an individual chioce, just like the part about respecting others beliefs.
How is it being respectful to prejudge someone based on their beliefs?

what, little boys do things that adults would be considered gay for all the time, and dont give it a second thought.

No, they don't. Maybe you did.......

You might want to discuss those things you did with your therapist during your next session.

Because the GOVERNMENT who is offering Tax Payer funds (some are from Homosexuals) has stated that if you accept our Funds you can not discriminate based on Sexual Preferences.
can you show me where that has been added to the constitution?
last I heard it was still being pettitioned for. the words "sexual orientation" has not been added

for the record, I dont think the boy scouts or any other group as such should be granted any government funds. My feelings however have nothing to do with any discriminatory acts they may or may not engage in.

little boys hold hands, play with dolls, wear pink crocs, cry to their mommy, and shocker, some even take baths together. I think all of those would be considered gay if you did them....... well maybe not the crying to mommy part:killingme

comon, i chose those because i have seen threads on here about such subjects. It happens, but just becasue a mom lets her son wear pink crocs (at his choice) doesn't mean he is gay....

If gayness is learned then so is straightness, before the choice is made you are somewhere in between, or maybe just in a different state where it doens't matter so you can act how you want without worrying aout if it is gay or not.
