Boy Scouts and Gay Rights Again.........

but you were 90% agreeing with me.

I wasn't disagreeing with you really.

I understand that, but I thought you wanted someone to answer why being gay isn't genetic. And there's your answer. Just plain old natural selection.

No breeding -> no contribution to the gene pool -> trait dies.

It says "He is faithful in his religious duties. He respects the beliefs of others."

it doesn't say he is faithful in MY or the accepted religious beliefs, but in HIS. Makes me think that is an individual chioce, just like the part about respecting others beliefs.
How is it being respectful to prejudge someone based on their beliefs?
so, why are the gays not willing to be respectful of the religious beliefs of the already existing scouts?

maybe the gays should try petitioning the scouts for the right to begin their own Gay group.
isnt that what the catholic church did in the begining of the scouts because the scouts were set up as protestant?

by the way, there is a hint in that above line.

so, all gay scout troops with only gay leaders.

if they wanted the oath to say "faithful to catholsism" or to the "protestant Church" they would have said that. It clearly says "faithful to his beliefs" and "respects others beliefs" not christian is the only way.....

maybe if it was written today.
however, in 1900 or so, it would not have been considered a question in this country as to what religion was being referred to.

ummm because the scouts are the ones preaching tolerance ....

but they're just talking. Apparently they don't mean it. It's funny, this:

A Scout is Trustworthy.
A Scout tells the truth. He is honest, and he keeps his promises. People can depend on him.

Apparently, people can depend on a scout to lie. Kind of weird. On one side they say that they are tolerant and indeed that make you take an oath saying that you are (tolerant) before you can join. They then insist that they are trustworthy and honest. Then they pull out a whooping huge discrimination.

In a way, it almost makes me regret becoming an Eagle Scout. Had I known then that the organization didn't practice what it preached I may have left.

right, becasue there was only one religion in 1900......

so no jews allowed either, right? i mean they would have obviously been outcast in 1900 if they wanted to join.

then they should have revised it, but they haven't and they won't.

being tolerent does not mean you have to accept as normal those perverse things that assault your standards.

Maybe, the scouts are tolerent to the point that the are willing to try and help gays get over their ailment, and not beat on them when they see them in public.

you can be respectful of someone without being willing to associate with them.

not sure but Im pretty much guessing that jews would have been looked at a little strange in the scouts too.

again,

by respecting and defending the rights of others to practice their own beliefs

and

You should respect and defend the rights of all people.

this is from their site.

Defending the rights of others to practice their own beliefs .... not the ones foisted upon them.

and, respect and defend the rights of ALL people. Not some, ALL.

so the religion part IS talking aout the individual religion of the scout.

why should they have to revise it?
just to stroke your idea of what is right or wrong?

no, because as of now there is nothing stating that homosexuals can't join. Except some of the higher ups don't like them. Nevermind that it's in their own oath that they should be allowed in.

difference like one being protected by the constitution and the other not?

One being a moral issue, and one not being a moral issue?

and as for your question. I dont have a disrespect for blacks, but I can pretty much tell you that you will not find me anywhere that they are playing rap, or will anyone on my property be playing rap for any time longer than it takes me to get to the device playing it and destroy it.

I guess it would be too easy for gay guys to start their own Scout program?
this is not about the gays being allowed to join the boy scouts.
this is about breaking down another major wall in an attempt to force acceptance on the public.

and that is why I am so against them being allowed to join.

oooooh, close, but the answer we were looking for is "they are equally bigoted remarks" thanks for playing.

so you are ok with gay people as long as you dont have to hear queer music?
