What are you riding?

Windshield goes up at night to keep the bugs at bay, and I upgraded to HIDs on the RT.. I light up the road in front of the cars in front of me, and to the side is phenomenal.

I have motolights on the brake clipers but since adding the HIDs haven't bothered to turn them on again.

One thing to think about at night, don't outdrive your lights.

The 'busa still. Around town and sub 50 mph wind gusts, it's addictive. My legs are getting comfortable on it as well.

Kewl thing about bike lights, they really seem to light it up ahead. Or so it seems to me. I was absolutely taking it easy, though.

I road with the face shield up...for about 30 seconds. It weas like getting hit in the face with 1/2 a vole. The bad half.

So, all this from someone who just a few short weeks ago called us all fools for riding on the road.

Headlights on a bike seem brighter and seem to light farther. I always thought it was because you're not looking thru a car dirty windscreen which cuts light and cuts your field of vision on top, bottom and sides. Once you step out from behind that car screen, all the available light can be used.

Stroms got dual 55s. I think sometimes I can see through solid objects:)

RT has two low beams, and one High.. (all three are lit when in high beam.

All three are HID H4 bulbs.

Lows are 6500K and the High is a 4000K..

(No high Beam in the picture)

I drive at night probably a little more than the average rider. Used to come from Dahlgren after nightfall every Wednesday Night, and now drive back from Arlington every Thursday night.. REALLY wanted as much light in front and to the side of me as possible. First time I drove back from Dahgren I was amazed at how many deer the lights were picking up in the fields on both sides of the road. The OEM lights, I had no idea they were there.

That, I've always got, the like/love part. :buddies:

To that I am adding basic skill that has taken what would have otherwise been, for me, a trial and error process, repleat with fingers corssed and however long the skin takes to heal, to a basic competency level and the confidence of knowing how to AND being able to operate and control the machine at a higher level than just stop/go.

I've got two more classes coming up in June. :yahoo:

Two fun events this AM;

I stalled for the first time. :tap: O dark 30 on the way to the gym, about 5:30 I guess, on a little incline, no one anywhere. Come to a full, complete stop, blink on, taking a right from an uphill to an up hill. A man alone laughing his ass off at himself in the middle of nowhere.

On the way home, interesting how big a school bus gets and how fast it gets big even thought it is sitting still when you are doing about 90 cresting a hill. For you flat landers, you can google the term; hill.

Anyway, the bus stop, or, where the bus stops, (I can not believe this is the approved spot) just over the crest where you can't see it until YOU are on the crest and, yup, them breaks work real good! Sudden but, not close or anything, but I was instantly looking for an out if someone was coming behind me. I knew there wasn't for at least a mile or two, :diva: at least not when I went over but, waiting for lil' Johnny and Susie, I was damn sure staring at my mirrors. :jameo:

Anyone coming this way and wants some company some time, shoot me a PM. Tour the bus stops of Frederick County.

I hope to hell you are kidding.

Of course I'm kidding. I was letting off as I started up the hill, no way I was going any more than 80 when I reached the top.

Tell you what else, I think I'm done riding the highway at night. Just got in and I ain't much liking that.

I like riding around the area at night. The highway part, man, I just felt, constantly, vulnerable to unseen deer, road debris etc.

Deer are a 24/7 problem.
Had one cross inches in front of me last year one afternoon on the Skyline drive.

Do you think better or aux lighting might help? Motorcycles are infamous for having crappy lighting (though I don't know enough about the 'Busa to say it's true or not) Few companies out there make aux HID driving lights that will turn night into day for you.,
