You do make a good point though... I'll rip the ashtray from my dash and fill it up and when I'm done and I have identified YOU riding behind me I'll throw the entire ashtray at you and just replace it from time to time.

I don't have a problem with cigarette butts really, but i don't get how the rules of littering do not apply to that?

candy wrapper, cigarette butt, bottle top, used kleenex, to me if you're throwing it outside, it's littering.

do apple cores count though? do you get stopped for littering if you throw a seed or a pit or something out the window?

hell if it's that hard to get to your ashtray (putting your beverage between your legs for 3 seconds)... then keep one beverage in the holder of some old stale soda and throw your butt in there. I'm on a roll today with all my ideas.

You know if you gave a damn about the nasty habit you have you'd use your head for more than a place to put your hat. If you are not lazy or just can't overcome this problem you have with the design of your ash tray, why don't you set it up before you start driving? Maybe not, that makes too much sense.

Maybe I choose not to cater to whiners in life such as yourself that bieatch about every single thing in life and whom I have no desire to please or rearrange my driving settings for. If anything its people like you that just makes me gleefullly anticipate the ride home today from work just so that I can throw my ciggerette butts out the window -- I didn't realize how bent people got about it... but now I will do it with glee!! You must have some pathetic and boring life where you feel the need to thrust your opinions on this forum and on your friends -- you should be grateful that someone's discarded ciggerette butt is the biggest and most uncontrollable force you have to reckon with. You act like you have never littered in your life or broken a law too -- well your shiat does stink and I'm calling you on it - you say it smells of laziness -- I think it smells of you sitting on your azz and complaining about issues as petty as this. Get over yourself. Take on a real issue.

I just don't agree the world will come to an end because of discarded ciggerette bouncing off the "asphault" and I hardly consider that a gateway habit for throwing Wendy's bags out the window or coke cans, what's next passengers?

But if it steams you soo much that folks like me habitually throw ciggerette butts out the window and onto a dirty paved road, then I hope you continue to get upset and angry about all of life's little annoyances such as this one - or get counselling immediately. jmtc

What about things like the fires out in California? My friend was living in San Diego when the fires were happening last year, and she said one was started by a cigarette being tossed out the window. It's things like that, that piss people off I think. People lose their homes.

I am NOT saying that every time someone tosses a butt out the window, that a huge forest fire is going to come of it...

But I sure would hate to inconcenience anyone to actually use their ashtray at the risk of it, anyway.

And I'm the one being told I need to grow up? What are you going to do next -- tp the tree in the front yard? Maybe find a dirty vehicle in the neighboorhood and finger in the letters "Wash me" and then snicker and put whoppie cushions on all the lawn furniture in the neighborhood too?? I am careful and considerate where I toss them -- not haphazardly flicking them out the window at gas stations, dry forestry, etc..

I wasn't serious, my point was, would you like it if your yard was littered with them- because that's what you're doing every time you drop one.

forest fires do start other ways... lightening, reckless campers actually creating fires, arsonists, etc... of the millions of people throwing their ciggerettes out the window it does not set off millions of fires... I feel for those people that do contend with fires due to someone else's carelessness, but there's nothing you or I can do to change other people or their habits. Not everyone is careless.
