I met Mel a couple times and she seemed like a great lady. RIP

Hang in there DR - you have a lot of years of fine memories.

I'm sure most of you know by now that my beloved wife passed away a little over a month ago. Married almost twentynine years. She fought a very brave battle with at least 4 types of cancer for about sixteen months. She was the most loving, caring and life loving person I have ever known. I will forever miss her, but I am also glad her suffering is over and it was much quicker than it might have been. I love you, baby. Enjoy your eternal perfect beach.

A few pix.

I did not know that she had passed and I'm sorry to hear of it.

RIP BS Gal and best wishes to you desertrat. Thanks for sharing.

I didn't know Mel, but I loved her posts. I know she had to be very special. As long as I have known you, if she was half person that your are, then she was spectacular.

(You kept things so quiet, I respect that that is how you wanted it and I can't imagine your pain. I was so glad to see you back at work.).

The pics you posted are lovely. Watching someone you love get sick and then suffer is so hard. I'm so sorry....God bless you, and may the happy memories that you have provide you much peace and comfort.

happy to be living
It takes a lot to make me cry but I sit here with huge tears running down my face. So many wonderful words about a truly wonderful and strong lady. Though we only met in person once, we did PM occassionally. She was generous and a good friend to those that were lucky enough to be in her world.

RIP, Mel.

In My Opinion
You all are great, thanks. I am now dehydrated and completly overwhelmed by your responses. Thank you.
I can only imagine.
If you are lucky you might once in your life meet someone that has the ability to touch you like she did so many.
I feel lucky for knowing her the short time I did.

On a lighter note, who would ever:

Want a plain hamburger from McD's?

Want a plain hotdog from Checker's?

Vacuum her house at least once a day?

Same with mopping kitchen/dining room?

Run off to get the latest sale on Scott?

Worried more about others than herself?

Loved her man more than anyone I've ever known?

Was the biggest Biatch when it suited her and she was in the mood?

Snored really loud? (Sorry Mel )

Shopped all of the time because it kept her "normal"?

Loved her birds, and passed the love to me, along with telling me I should get rid of my squirrels as she handed me food for them?

I could write a novel. She was one heck of a person and many things I will not share. She made me promise.

Mel? I do owe you $20, and you owe me a crabcake. We will call it even for now.

I was just talking about her today. I shared her signature line with a friend of mine.

Mel was a great lady! I loved her wit & truly admired her grace in the face of the horrible things she had to go through with her cancers.

I'm so glad you have all those beautiful memories of your years together, and I know her spirit will always be there for you!

I'm glad I read this all at home and not at work. Have to keep up the tough guy image at work, and crying and sniffling like a baby just wouldn't do.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mel a few times. A great spirit, and a never ending smile.

I LOVED reading her motorcycle adventures when she first started, brought back a lot of the excitement from years ago.. The travels down the driveway and back.. then down the street and back.. and then the BRIDGE!!

We miss her.

After 78 other replies, about all I can say is :yeahthat:.

I will reiterate one thing I mentioned on her FB page, though: I am so glad she was able to get back on the bike, especially after she thought she'd never be able to do it again.

To a GREAT woman with a great life (including a good husband)... and :huggy:
