It really could be a lot worse. There are places all over the US that make the folks living in the area look like nice people.

And so what if the news wanted to do a report in Ridge. We would already know there would be more people that teeth in the segment.

Seriously, I have worked in tobacco fields, as a small kid used to go oystering and crabbing with my dad...we are about as rural as you can get..and I have a college education and am a Photoshop specialist.....but the news story (to me and my co-workers anyway!) made southern Maryland sound uneducated...and the chick under the bar clinging to the other chicks leg???? And the "Lusbian" comment that was left unexplained......Good grief, talk about dignity.....

It must be just.you because I thought the segment was charming. It portrayed SoMDers the way they are - unpretentious folks that like to have a good time and don't give a flip about an award that vapid celebrities win for being fake people.

I am glad someone did -- thanks for your viewpoint and not calling me stupid or cursing at me. I love it here in Southern Md. and perhaps I am a bit too sensitive when it comes to how we are viewed.....I have heard too much negativity about the county growing up here. Anyway,,,,

I am proud to say I am a hick from Southeast Missouri with a college education. People where I grew up are country bumpkins. You either work on a farm, work at Noranda or the Power Plant. Back in 1991, our town was portrayed in the same light but it was just the normal Joe Smuckatelly being interviewed.

Big deal the one chic didn't want to be on tv. And there have been a lot worse things said on the news than "Lusbian".

I grew up just down the road a piece from Toot's, I have all my teefs and even if some people don't get me... I"m not stupid or inbred.....
I think it's nice that our home gto a little attention.

Next time I hope they visit the 7th ,or make a documentary on the Bucksnort...

In fact, my little brotha was incarerated at the prson near there, so we made a family vacation of it and visited the Everly Brothers Museum and the Dairy Queen too.

Everyone here at my office is in agreement that the story presented us in a negative way...do you all not agree with this? Are you really pleased with the story?
And, by the way, I have not heard that the Dew or Toots was being sold. Considering that the Dew just "franchised" the Dew South....I kinda doubt it....

I thought it was funny and honest. I grinned the whole time I was watching it. The only thing that I was disappointed about is that they didn't capture Ray's endearing and contagious laugh.

It was Old Ridge Inn at one time too.

And I thought the Hollywood Segment was very Hollywood. Toots is a great place because it's fun and unpretentious.

Flew my plane into Paducah once. Stayed at the motel near the airport and flew out the next day to Oklahoma City. What little I saw of it, it seemed nice. The folks I met were typical, Midwest, friendly. Love 'em.
