When was the last time there was a shooting in a Charles County school?
Honestly I have no clue.
As well as have no clue the last time there was a school shooting in St Mary's County.

When was the last time a minority went Columbine at school?
Or the last time a minority went into a mall and started blasting people?

Are you a minority? Have you actually taken the time to look at the statistics or are you just talking out of your ass?

You must be a redneck...
And damn proud of it. I respect my country. I give respect to most of the people in it.
Yes.. I am a minority.
Yes. I do agree that school violence is a problem.
But, to say that minorities are the reason that violence exists in schools is not a correct assumption.
And sweetheart that sure is pretty talk coming from a lady...
You must be a redneck...
Who said that?? What was said is that the violence is worse where there is a heavy concentration of minorities, which is, in general correct.

Define what is worse?
I'd say the Columbine incident is one of the worst in history. Which was to my knowledge a predominantly white school.
I can't speak for public schools but my contract does not specify a set number of days. I am contractually obligated to be here school days and faculty inservice days from Aug. 20th to June 10th, plus "other duties as assigned" meaning there are some weekend events/over night field trips that I must take part in.
Every year students fail, or don't progress to the next grade, due to too many absences. Even if they have a 3.3 GPA, they can and will still fail them for too many absences...
And in some states/ counties.. you take your kids out of school for a vacation (or any other unexcused absence) you could be facing a serious amount of fines..
You are taking isolated events and trying to apply them to the larger picture, which, to my knowledge is what we are talking about or you wouldn't be bringing up something that happened in Colorado!
Isolated or not.
You can't just brush off an incident because it's isolated!
Is one worse than the other?
In my eyes yes.
To me it's not a black/white issue. It's how society has changed and parents are not doing their jobs.
When I was in school I don't even think there were guns around. Sure there were fights, but that was it.
I was more worried about getting whooped at home for doing something stupid than worrying about messing around in school.
It's funny how we view crime in America. For instance we are in an uproar if a kid brings a gun to school. Or if someone is beat down in school. Which we should be.
But what about the engineer who designs a faulty bridge which causes people to plummet to their death? They get fined and go their merry way.
What about the engineers who design faulty retaining walls and cause a catastrophe (a la katrina)?
What about the insurance exec that swindles millions of people's retirement away. Fined and a few years in jail maybe?
But, the guy that gets caught for selling crack gets 20 years...
I'm not saying any of the above is proper. Just that our perception is so skewed and it becomes easy to blame one race or another...
I grew up in the damn ghetto. We're talking 15 years ago. Times were the same then. Crime and violence then too.
Please...
You grew up in the ghetto...
Please tell which ghetto you speak of?
