Isolated or not.

You can't just brush off an incident because it's isolated!

Is one worse than the other?

In my eyes yes.

To me it's not a black/white issue. It's how society has changed and parents are not doing their jobs.

When I was in school I don't even think there were guns around. Sure there were fights, but that was it.

I was more worried about getting whooped at home for doing something stupid than worrying about messing around in school.

It's funny how we view crime in America. For instance we are in an uproar if a kid brings a gun to school. Or if someone is beat down in school. Which we should be.

But what about the engineer who designs a faulty bridge which causes people to plummet to their death? They get fined and go their merry way.

What about the engineers who design faulty retaining walls and cause a catastrophe (a la katrina)?

What about the insurance exec that swindles millions of people's retirement away. Fined and a few years in jail maybe?

But, the guy that gets caught for selling crack gets 20 years...

I'm not saying any of the above is proper. Just that our perception is so skewed and it becomes easy to blame one race or another...

I am not blaming any race! You are too sensative, it is a fact that violence OVERALL is worse in schools with higher concentration of minorities. That is all that was said, noone mention any of the underlying factors that cause it. That is another 100 or so threads in itself.

As far as buisness men that swindle people out of their retirements and savings, they can all hang as far as I am concerned. There is nothing worse then a thief especially on the scale that some of these a$$holes operate.

Heh.

Anytime darling..

I'm not trying to be an ass so please forgive me.

I just find it extremely annoying when someone plays the 'woe is me' card.

Nothing to forgive. You're totally entitled to state your opinion. I just thought nuggling would be more fun. :lmao:

You'll have a hard time finding someone on here to argue with you on that. But, most white kids also don't look up to and idolize Fittycent and JayZ and all these thugs who release cRap albums and shoot up other people.

When I was in school I don't even think there were guns around. Sure there were fights, but that was it.

I don't believe anybody ever got shot in my school. Oh, BTW, weren't John Allen Muhammad and John Lee Malvo (D.C. Snipers) BLACK. They shot someone on school grounds.

I was more worried about getting whooped at home for doing something stupid than worrying about messing around in school.

They designed the bridge 80+ years ago. It's the government's job to inspect that bridge regurally. They do not. Read the msnbc.com Special Report. It's not the engineers fault. It's just how our taxpayer dollars are being wasted building new bridges in the middle of nowhere instead of fixing up, modernizing or even inspecting the bridges we have.

What about the engineers who design faulty retaining walls and cause a catastrophe (a la katrina)?

You can blame the state of Louisiana for that.

What about the insurance exec that swindles millions of people's retirement away. Fined and a few years in jail maybe?

I agree with that.

Yeah.

That's the ghetto.

Try going through inner city Chicago.

Or, try the many wonderful areas in inner city New York.

Maybe Compton..

South East L.A.

I'm not saying you didn't have it rough, but come on...
I'd move to New York over Downtown Washington, D.C. anyday. :coffee:

Point taken...

But, I don't see any of those minorities going Columbine on the student population...

In fact it seems to me that the white kids are the one's we should be worrying about...

Why is it the "white kids" we shold be worrying about?

Because a white kid shot a few other people in a high school on the other side of the country some nine, ten years ago.

I'm more worried about getting shot by some Korean in the middle of my class. :jameo:

I can't believe you're ACTUALLY trying to argue that teachers do any less work than other people...

they do more...trust me.

I don't care if that IS in fact their contract requirements. Do you realize that they stay after the students leave nearly EVERY day and forget about afterschool activities...yeah, teachers supervise...forget about that? Most teachers come in early nearly every day as well...

7.5 hours isn't even close to how much time they spend JUST at school doing work.

And out of seven period day (for example).. how many hours are actually spent in a classroom? Teachers I knew usually taught 4 classes a day, leaving them +3 hours to do stuff like grading papers, work on study plans, etc.. while they were at school. Still leaving them 1/2 hour for lunch.

I can't think of ONE teacher (excluding elementary school) that taught or was in front of a class 7 hours a day.

I'm not saying they don't deserve the money they make, they do.. but don't whine that they don't make enough, they work too hard.. etc.. etc.. they deserve 14 weeks off a year...

And 190 days would include 10 days for Teacher's Workshops.. they only have to teach the kids 180 days.. .

We all make choices.. I chose the $$$. They chose the time off.

Although, from what I understand, around here they aren't that underpaid, and the benefits are nothing to sneeze at. Isn't the start pay around here >40k??

Now where I came from they made 4 times the local average.. They had all the nice houses, the boats, the new cars.. and they STILL went out on strike.

Picketing in front of the School Board's president's house.. it was nothing more than a shack.. asking for more money, better benefits.. they have NO shame.

Chopticon teacher on a... 02-01-2008 10:21 AM Get bent, you ####ing muther####er!!!

I assume, by the way you so eloquently express yourself, and have mastered the English language, that you are a teacher??

When was the last time a minority went Columbine at school?

Or the last time a minority went into a mall and started blasting people?

You keep speaking of Columbine... these incidents are isolated - yes, should not be brushed off BUT we are talking about EVERY DAY aggression in the schools which can lead to something like this.

Spend some time with kids who go to school and the BS they put up with. Some schools are different - this is where the correlation in being drawn between a high minority enrollment and issues in the school.

You are married and your wife had your child. So, you are actually a ####ing mother ####er. :yay:

Socki baby, you grew up in the slums of Charles County. Far cry from a real ghetto. I'll take you on a drive through Anacostia one day and you'll be praying for Indian Head!

Driving through the daytime is scary enough! I remember going to Sears on Alabama Avenue as a kid and attending a Penn Ave. Baptist Church as a kid...

You won't catch me up in that area anymore!!!
